Mull is wild and beautiful. 300 miles of dramatic coastline, including some excellent Beaches, and a castle that's appeared in several films. The island's main town, Tobermory, is famed for the cheerful colours of its waterfront buildings and the yachts bobbing in the natural harbour, where legend has it that one of the Spanish Armada ships sank in 1588 carrying gold bullion. Tobermory is also well known for being the setting of hit children's TV show Balamory.
We were on the Isle of Mull car ferry on the way over from Oban to Craignure - line up early, as they are very prompt and efficient about getting cars and trucks loaded. Large, spacious upstairs lounge for the 45 minute transit.

Discover Mull is a tour with a difference, based in the scenic village of Dervaig. As well as the 50 species of wildlife seen on most of our tours, we will take time to explain the history and geology and to show you the wildflowers that makes Mull such a special place. Lasting 8 hours the tour is very relaxed and friendly.
Having experienced some very mediocre fortunes trying to spot Mull wildlife on my own over previous years, I decided to put myself in the hands of the professionals this year and spent a splendid day out with Arthur of Discover Mull. A very entertaining host, Arthur took us to all the right places to see Mull's famous wildlife, large and small, with eagles, hen harriers and otters being the highlights for me.
With tasty lunch and coffee stops, the minibus provided a really comfortable and rewarding day out.
I can thoroughly recommend a day out with Discover Mull, and I feel sure I will be back for another trip next year.

Turus Mara run seabird and wildlife Cruise-tours to Staffa, the Treshnish Isles and Iona. Get some Puffin Therapy on Lunga in the Treshnish Isles, wonder at the awe inpiring Fingal's Cave and experience the serenity of Iona, cradle of christianity.
We visited the impressive Isle of Staffa and the Treshnish isles on the Turus Mara tour. Unfortunately all the puffins had recently left but the tour was still excellent and we saw a large amount of wildlife including, white tailed sea eagles, shags, cormorants. skewers, seals. The captain was excellent and gave us a fantastic tour.

Mull Eagle Watch offers ranger-led visits to view Britain's largest and most impressive bird of prey, the white-tailed eagle. There's also a really good chance of seeing other wildlife including golden eagles.
Our RSPB Guide, Meryl Varty, was both very knowledgeable and filled with infectious enthusiasm. We saw both eagles on the nest at the same time - a very unusual sight. The eagles scored above us, when not feeding the chick. It was a marvellous morning...MoreHi Robin, Thanks very much for the great review. We're really glad you had a lovely trip to our Tiroran viewing hide. Sounds like you were lucky and had some amazing encounters. Thanks again

Tucked away amongst the retailer shop on the front at Tobermory is the most marvellous small museum. No space is left untouched and each piece on display adds to the visitors knowledge and experience of the Isle of Mull. Particularly enjoyed the display and narration about the Neptune II and its unplanned crossing of the Atlantic in 1929/1930. Free entry but donations most welcome.

A small but charming aquarium making a big splash as Europe's first catch and release aquarium. Our animals are brought in to us by local fishermen, divers and families and are returned to the sea every couple of weeks, so you can guarantee that no two visits will be the same! With informative interactive exhibits, a digital cinema room and our kids craft area, there's plenty to see and do. Get your hands wet at our touch pool stations and discover the secret lives of our sea creatures. Touch pool demonstrations run on the hour every day during the summer months (see our website for current events timetables). Tickets are valid ALL DAY so you can always take time to explore the historic harbour front and come back to see our sea creatures again! Mull Aquarium is part of the THA, a not-for-profit community company. PLEASE NOTE the aquarium is only open from Easter through to the end of October. Trip advisor does not allow us to put seasonal opening times on this page, please visit our website for up to date information.

The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Centre highlights the unique diversity of whales and dolphins found in the waters of the Hebrides. Situated on the harbour front in Tobermory, we are open every day from April to September, 10:30 to 16:30. As well as information on cetaceans, interactive exhibits and a gift shop we offer a daily programme of Bones talks and a Whale Watching Workshop available mon-sat. Entry to the centre is free, with a small charge for talks/workshops. We also have a 'recent sightings' zone where we list what has been seen recently and a place to record your own sighting. We offer evening talks and special events throughout the summer, including scientific talks and headland watches using Opticron binoculars.
Knowledgeable staff and volunteers and a great , topical range of talks and briefings make this THE place to go to find out about cetaceans around this area. The blackboard outside lists activities and sightings and there are gifts and accessories on sale too. Well decorated and equipped.
