Chaiya National Museum

Reviewed By Suratrichard - Surat Thani, Thailand

We had been to this museum before several years ago and didn't hesitate to visit a second time when the opportunity arose. It's not open every day of the week so it's worth checking before you visit. I think it's closed Sunday and Monday. It's situated just across the road from the Wat Phra Boromathat so it makes for a worthwhile combined visit. Entrance for foreigners is 100baht ( 20baht for Thais). This dual pricing is fairly standard in Thailand. Approximately an hour would be sufficient time to have a good look at the many exhibits which illustrate the history of Chaiya and the surrounding area. There are some explanations in English and there was clearly some work being undertaken within the museum as some display areas were vacant but don't let that put you off visiting. It's worth remembering that this isn't a European museum full of interactive displays with the emphasis on keeping children occupied but again don't let that put you off visiting. Thais are very proud of their museums and rightly so. There are toilets nearby and on the road between the temple and museum are food and drink stalls with ample car parking. Well worth visiting.

Art-samui

3D Art Museum In Samui invites you become a part of 65 optical illusions, created by professional Korean artists. Most museums don't like to see their visitors take pictures, but this is not the rule at the 3D art museum in Samui. Here, visitors are encouraged to interact and have fun with the art pieces, taking as many photos as they want. Art paintings are not complete if you don't take pictures with them! The museum is filled with unique paintings that, when photographed from a certain point, create optical illusions that make it seems like you're, for example, stepping out of the painting or being attacked by it. Awesome museum available to visit and have fun inside to everyone - kids and adults, families, couples and traveling friends. Here everyone will find something attractive and will have fun by taking pictures using different backgrounds and poses.
