I did a trail run/hike up to the top of West Peak. The bottom trails of Helderberg are well marked and utilized, however the upper trails are not as well maintained and require you to be very careful. It is well worth it for the view at the top of the mountain though! It felt safe in terms of security and the facilites at the entrance were good.

This was our first visit to Lourensford. what a breathtakingly beautiful venue! Very well organised, right from the parking, friendly professional staff attending with friendly welcoming smiles. We were a group of 6 friends, together to celebrate my husband's birthday! Service at the Millhouse restaurant was fabulous. Happy staff attending , nothing was too much trouble. The pizzas were delicious. We sat outside on the deck. We did a wine tasting in the cellar after lunch, which was fun and informative and, this is a wine estate we will definitely be inviting all our friends to visit, and we'll be back! We also enjoyed the looking at the diverse Art in the Art gallery. Restrooms were pristine. This is a place to spend the day and chill and just enjoy the beauty.

Wine tasting, excellent restaurants, wonderful gardens, play areas for the young ones, a food market, art gallery, a water fountain in which the kids are allowed to play on a sunny day, makes Lourensford THE place to visit.

Turn off the Sir Lowry's Pass Village Road and enter the Waterkloof gates, and a lane of trees beckon towards the hills, where a total sensory experience awaits. The road meanders through an amphitheatre flanked by reclaimed fynbos and immaculately kept vineyards, before arriving at our state-of-the-art cellar. A sign welcomes you to our tasting lounge. Stop for awhile outside and breathe deeply. Fill your soul with the views over the surrounding Schaapenberg Hills and the waters of False Bay down below. Now enter the main area, designed to hold you in awe, showcasing the sincere, clean essence of our Old World-style wines. Tall glass walls allow views of both the working cellar and the farm below, while raw concrete columns frame artworks from well-known South African artists.

The setting is unrivaled, perched high overlooking Somerset West - we were there on an overcast day and it was still spectacular! The service is what really stood out to us, the people are just happy to be there and nothing is too much to ask. Shane the sommelier was great throughout, Faith our waitress was a delight, each chef who came out to present a dish was excellent, and even the Executive Chef, Gregory, wasn't too caught up to leave the kitchen to check on each table and stay for a chat. The food is obviously the highlight, every course, every bite is an experience, and the wine pairing with the dégustation menu is spot on with wines from the farm itself. We didn't want to leave and could have stayed there forever. An absolute experience from start to finish - thank you!
