Brilliant to see the house as it would have been in Georgian times, with each room explained by a knowledgeable and welcoming volunteer. Great value for money - a couple of hours flew by!

Montacute House

Built at the end of the 16th century, this is considered one of the most beautiful Elizabethan houses in England, which was a symbol of Sir Edward Phelips' wealth and high social standing.

This glorious National Trust property offers visitors a great insight into the treasures of a wonderful property, superbly presented by the National Trust. In addition to the furnishings and historical artefacts the story it tells so well is about the lifestyle of an Elizabethan family and is second to none. As a special bonus the long gallery of the house houses a significant portion of the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection of Elizabethan paintings. Don’t miss the opportunity if available to take in any of the volunteer talks on the characters portrayed in these paintings - absolutely fascinating. The efforts made to evoke a real feel for this remarkable period of English history is outstanding. Given most will be thrilled with house, the gardens have their own special surprises and delights to offer especially on a fine day. A must visit house steeped in history.

Bath Street

This is one of our favourite streets to stroll down in the UK. The architecture is superb and there are plenty of shops and cafes/restaurants to choose from. It really is full of character and history. We were very fortunate on our recent visit to have lovely weather which made the stroll even more pleasurable. Bath is a lovely friendly city to visit and one we never tire of.

The Circus

Reviewed By annettelaurie - Plymouth, United Kingdom

This Bath Crescent blew me away a little because I originally thought Bath has only 1 “crescent” but I was so wrong. We came across Kings Crescent – now called The Circus, whilst getting from A to B and then this just opened up. It is not so much a Crescent as a circle divided into three parts, with a large circular lawned area in the middle with massive oak trees which were planted sometime after it had been built (started in 1754 by John Wood architect and finished by his son John Wood junior). The Georgian buildings are beautiful, playing nods to ancient Rome, architecture of Inigo Jones , hints of Stonehenge and masonic symbolism (of which there is a LOT in Bath), all in all quite eclectic – but it works!

Brean Down

Reviewed By breanorlad14 - Leicester, United Kingdom

Wow!! What a lovely place to visit. Visiting the area for a few days, we decided to visit Brean Down. It was a beautiful sunny day and collecting some lovely coffee from the National Trust cafe near the car park, we scaled the cliff. It was so well worth it. The view from the top was amazing. The tide was out showing off a huge beach area. Lovely experience.
