This Cathedral is very beautiful both in and out, I loved seeing the clocks striking on the quarter hour and hearing the choir practising was a special joy while wandering around. There are some steps up to the Chapter House on the left which is a light area with a very attractive ceiling and a good place to sit peacefully for a few minutes.

Pulteney Bridge

One of only three bridges in the world lined with shops, this exquisite 18th-century bridge is one of the most admired structures in Bath.

For those who are familiar with the film Les Miserables in which Javert, played by Russell Crowe, jumped to his death, will be delighted to discover that the bridge of Javert's demise is actually located in Bath . It is, I suggest, best approached via the toe path along the river. As you round the bend the bridge springs into view. If you continue to the bridge, you can ascend the stairs and emerge on the bridge to discover a wide range of interesting shops and cafes. Well worth exploring, without the need to visit Paris.

Burrington Combe

Reviewed By Bristolbabber

Great walk at Burrington Ham off the beaten track in the Mendips. Very small car park. Dogs love it here all those interesting smells not found in the city. Access muddy in wet weather but once on the grass it's fine. Violets, scabious, thyme etc scattered across the grass in spring and summer, blackberries in late summer. Often see buzzards overhead and there are great views from the top of the rocky outcrop. Mostly level walking but no seating areas. No toilets. There is an ice cream van in the summer. Generally pretty deserted but be aware of horse riders and cattle who have been brought in for conservation grazing.

Vicar's Close

Reviewed By Lincsman

This is a street tucked around the back of the Cathedral. The houses are fascinating with their tall chimneys. The close can be walked along with an exit via a narrow passageway and steps towards the Cathedral school. The road is 'cobbled' so uneven. Worth a visit.
