First a warning - it's a long steep climb from car park/ticket office (about 1km) and when you do reach the actual fortrification entrance it's an even steeper climb mainly over cobbled stones so care needs to be taken and sensible shoes worn - especially after rain. And then when you do reach to top there's the old church tower to climb in order to obtain the best views! A massive tip is to make sure you purchase tickets (4.50e per adult) at the car park office as entry at the top is via ticket scanner and it's a long way back - there's no possibility of sneaking over the ramparts! However, not only is there a restaurant next to the car park, there's also a snack bar just before you enter the scanner turnstile at the top.
The views as you climb the slopes and from the top are worth the effort, with panoramic vistas towards Schaffhausen, Bodensee/Lake Constance, over Singen and further north. Essentially, the first castle was built in 914 and expanded over the years and considered unconquerable. However, in 1801 it was destroyed under the orders of Napoleon and hence it's ruined condition today. I was surprised just how large an area the castle and fortifications cover.
There are information panels with numbers and audio symbols all round the site but we were not offered anything so not sure how that works. There's a small gift shop within the ticket office area and a museum above.

This is a great museum at the Bodensee, ideal for a bad-weather activity for families or couples alike. Combining art with cars is a genius move and allows everyone to find something of interest, plus it is rather inexpensive. Check the internet for opening hours.

A beautiful scenic walk uphill on a paved path until you get the ruins. Its just 2 or 3 euros to walk into the ruined castled, and the view from the top is incredible, well worth the time and price. It is mostly cobblestones once you get into the castle, and it gets a bit slippery so good tennis shoes or walking shoes are needed.
Read the historical guide before you go into the castle it gives a lot of good information, you know what you are looking at. There is also a small shop at the base of the castle selling drinks and ice cream.
We were adults with several teen boys and everyone enjoyed it.

Have been there with friends ,nice food , good service a very chilled out atmosphere and good access ability as it's right opposite the main railway station with ideal parking possibilities and also next to a cinema perfect place for a fun evening....Do make Reservations as on weekends it's quite overbooked...Have fun folks

Bei klarer Fernsicht ist der Besuch der Ruine Mägdeberg ein wahrer Traum. Mit direktem Blick auf den Hohenkrähen, den Hohentwiel sowie den näheren Bodenseeausläufer in Vordergrund und den Alpen im Hintergrund derselben eröffnen sich hier phantastische Perspektiven und das ist ganz offensichtlich weitläufig bis über die deutschen Grenzen hinaus bekannt, denn bei schönem Wetter stößt der kleine Wanderparkplatz zwischen Mühlausen-Ehingen und Duchtlingen ganz schnell an seine Kapazitätsgrenzen. Daher war ich mir anfangs auch gar nicht so sicher, ob ich diesen Ausflugspunkt als Ziel empfehlen sollte oder nicht.
Die Beliebheit ist aber auch kein Wunder, bietet der Mädgeberg nämlich nicht nur Aussichten sondern auch den Ausgangspunkt für so manchen kürzeren Spaziergang oder eine leichte Wanderung zu den weiteren sehenswerten Zielen in der näheren Umgebung: das Hegaukreuz, den Aussichtspunkt Offerenbühl oder den Höhenkrähen mit seiner Burgruine.
Zum Hegaukreuz folgt man zunächst dem Wanderpfad zur Ruine Mägdeberg hinauf, biegt dann aber nach ca. 150 m am Ende der Lichtung mit den jüngeren Pflanzungen nach links ab und folgt dann dem Weg zunächst weiter hinab ins Tal, bevor es am Waldesrand über die Wiesen und Felder hinauf zum Hegaukreuz geht. Nicht ganz leicht, der Aufstieg wird aber mit einer herrlichen Aussicht über das Hegau belohnt.
Auf der anderen Seite in Richtung Bodensee kann man vom Wanderparkplatz aus hingegen schon das zweite Kreuz erkennen: den Aussichtpunkt Offerenbühl. Hierzu folgt man der Fahrstraße ein kurzes Stück hinab Richtung Mühlhausen-Ehingen, bevor man rechts hinauf zum Kreuz und Aussichtpunkt abbiegt. Von dort hat man den Hohenkrähen direkt vor sich und kann die leichte Wanderung dorthin direkt fortsetzen. Auch hier gilt wieder: bei klarer Fernsicht ein besonderes Erlebnis, läuft man nämlich direkt auf die Alpen zu.
