Ikaho Toy, Doll and Car Museum

Reviewed By Anthony W - Hong Kong, China

Spent an enjoyable morning here with the family drooling over the museum grade classic Japanese cars. This was the second time I had the opportunity to see a Toyota 2000GT (my favorite Japanese car of all time) in the metal, which was in way better condition than the 2 x 2000 GTs I saw in Toyota Mega Web about 6 years ago.
Apart from that highlight, I also came face to face with most of the classic Japanese cars on my "wish" list, which were again all in museum grade condition.
What really impressed me was that apparently some of the cars had undergone a full ground-up restoration, judging form the "before" and "after" photos displayed as part of the exhibits.
The only non-Japanese car in the collection was a Ferrari F40, which unlike the other cars, was housed separately in a glass display on the roof of the building, which I found rather strange...

Haruna Shrine

Haruna Shrine is nestled in the Mountains. Unfortunately we visited in January and it was very crowded. There were lines of cars from both roads leading into the shrine and very little parking. They were sending 5 people at a time to pray because there was even a line up to the shrine itself. However, the atmosphere remained peaceful and I left with good fortune.

A simple red bridge abundantly flanked by japanese maple leaves. This is an autumn leaf spot and in the right season it is indeed quite beautiful. It is however fairly out of the way, something like a 10-15 minute walk from Ikaho Shrine at the top of the stone steps. Quite an investment for a simple bridge, even if it is a beautiful one. It is also accessible by car. Around the time the leaves start turning in autumn, the bridge is lit up at night to allow viewing after dark.

Hara Museum Arc

Reviewed By Daylan C - Yokohama, Japan

Impressive architecture spread out over a very serene environment. This contemporary art museum focuses on contemporary art, with rotating exhibits in three separate but relatively small exhibition rooms. I felt the museum's strongest section was the "Kankai Pavillion" however, where there is a small yet varied collection of excellent Japanese art spanning a few centuries. Outside on the lawn there is a metal structure where, if the sun is shining, apparently casts rainbows throughout the interior (unfortuantely it was raining when we visited). I would recommend visiting soon after opening time, we did so and had the place completely to ourselves.
The museum is relatively small, and will likely take about an hour of your time, or two if you decide to stroll the grounds leisurely.
