The Rathaus is the heart of this small beautiful city. There's gold everywhere here. They produce an unique kind of gold sheet to cover some points of the buildings. You can see it on the Rathaus and on the building at the main plaza.

Our children are big fans of the Playmobil toys, so we hoped they would like this park, but the reality proved even better than expected. The park has numerous attractions and it can happen that you literally have to drag your kid away from one...MoreHi Queequeg111, many thanks for your great review. We are glad you had such a nice time at the #PLAYMOBILFunPark. We will of course forward your idea of multiple day ticket to our management team! :-)

We mainly went for the sauna area, which is adults only, but the swimming areas which you have to go through to reach the saunas looked great for families - a number of pools, slides, saunas, and eating places. There is a common entry for both the leisure pools and the sauna area - after specifying how long you wish to stay - 2 hours, 4 hours, or all day, and whether you want to go to the sauna section (which costs 5 euro's extra), you are given a credit-card shaped card. Take this to the turnstile on the right of the reception desk and put it in the slot, much as you do in a multi-storey car park. The card will be returned to you and the turnstile will open. Then go down the stairs ahead to the large changing area - this is shared between the pool (costumes needed) and the sauna area (naturist), and so you will need to put a costume on or use a towel or gown as you exit straight into the fun pool area. The lockers use the entry card - find an empty locker and put the card in the slot on the inside of the door, this will allow you to remove the key when you lock it. If you're going to the sauna area don't be put off by the crowds and noise (at least at weekends) in the changing area - all is peaceful again once you're in the adult-only area. After closing your locker follow the signs to the pool ('Bad'), go up the steps, turn right, then left and you're at the entrance to the sauna's - it's well-signposted. Here there are pigeon-holes to put any belongings, and lockable ones further in, for any valuables. From then on it's wonderful - a number of indoor saunas, resting areas, a restaurant and bar, a Jacuzzi, and a salt-water relaxing pool. But the real highlight is outside where there about another dozen saunas on different themes, as well as Jacuzzi, showers, and plenty of areas to sit. There's even a novelty sauna, which is supposed to be a cable car and lifts up about 50 foot in the air!. It was a hot day when we were there so most people were outside, but the sauna's weren't too crowded - there's a lot of space in the complex. On the way out you need to retrieve your card from the locker, as you need to put it in the turnstile machine to allow exit. The whole area is naturist as is usual for German sauna's but you soon get used to it. We've been to a few of the larger sauna complex's in Germany and would rate this very highly - second only to the wonderful, but much larger, Therme Erding, near Munich.

Innen ist die Kirche beeindruckend..groß und hell. Besonders der Altar sticht ins Auge, eine herausragende Arbeit. Eine wirklich schöne Kirche in einer schönen Stadt.

Johannisfriedhof Nurnberg

Reviewed By simmondsi - Darmstadt, Germany

Perhaps we are quirky but we have visited quite a few Cemeteries on our travels. When our Nuremberg tour guide recommended the Johannisfriedhof and we saw it had been rated Germany's most beautiful cemetery we had to go and look.
The walk from the old town is not far - you can walk along the river a short way after going under the old town wall and then up a set of steps towards the destination (best check your tourist map or Google maps). That is nice and of itself.
The cemetery was somewhat disappointing actually. There is no grass at all, which is odd and makes it seem less-than-beautiful, but in May at least almost all the tombs (which are all above ground - see the website or photos) had blooming pansies on them. The time of year to come however is when the roses are out (summer?) so May was simply too early.
Having said that, we found even the Alter Friedhof in our home town in Darmstadt is more beautiful and characterful.
In short don't come here expecting a Pere Lechaise (Paris) or Glasnevin (Dublin). But still worth the walk out and back.
If you found my review helpful, I would appreciate your vote.

Worth a visit. Lots of interesting weapons on exhibit. Nice explanations of history exhibits too. Fun walking through castle.
Gift shop could be much better, only a few books. Missing an opportunity to make money - I for one, love castle gifts shops.
The tower is included in ticket. I went inside and looked up .... but did not climb! Amazing structure, you have to take a look inside even if you decide not to climb to the top.

The courtroom is still a functioning courtroom today and as such I was overcome with a feeling that is hard to explain. Sadness, yet joy that those who committed these atrocities were finally served justice. Listening to the guides gave extra emotional turmoil to myself as I imagined how many people are still around without ever been tried for their crimes.
