Isla de Tabarca

Reviewed By Mike R - London, United Kingdom

Small island which is easy to explore by foot. The church was closed and looked like being renovated and the museum was shut. A number of restaurants and small hotels. Some nice sandy bays. Visited from Benidorm for a two and a half hour visit which was enough for a meal and a wander. There was a lot of litter on the island and could do with tidying up. It needs a bit of investment.

We spent around 90 minutes here looking around at the sea creatures, watching the informative video and Reading the information pieces. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and for €3 for adults and €1.50 for kids, it is absolutely brilliant value and a nice break from the hot sun for a while!
The conservation work they do here is amazing as well and the staff are really friendly - well recommended!

Easy to find. Catch a bus to Santa Pola from the new bus terminal you will see the M for Macdonalds, cross the road , and turn right to head towards Macdonalds , walk passed McDonalds and then take the next road left . It's a good ten minutes walk straight down this road.On the right you will pass the sports grounds and the Salt Museum and if you are luck you may spot some flamingoes. at the end of the road you will see the Pola Park .
We had children aged 4 14 Euro
And one aged 10 16 or 18 euro
If you add a adults to this it is 2 Euro extra and well worth it to go in the rides when little ones are hesitant.
I went on the quads with only four year old grandson and the bumping cars , train ,
We all had great fun ! The Park opens at 6.30pn and runs until about 1am .
The last bus back heading to Alicante is 10.30pm usually ( please check times due to festivals)
We went a second night which cost 5 euro entry ...........and missed the last bus
It cost us 10 Euro to get to Gran Alicant . The taxi rank is passed McDonalds and the Bus station near the tourist information. Or you can go to a stall near to the park entrance and they will call one for you.
All in all we had a fantastic time the children were out of the hot August sun and really I joyed all the rides .
We have been to Santa Pola many times and never gone to the Pola Park until this year
What a treat we have missed!
Please note the restaurants are fast food types .

After eventually finding the narrow road off the N332 which leads up to the viewing platform at the lighthouse, we were pleasantly surprised to find what I believe is called the "Skywalk" viewing platform. From here you get tremendous views not only down to the beach below but out to sea and the island of Tabarca.
The narrow road up to the lighthouse from the main road is full of potholes, so drive slowly and carefully, and the short walk from where you park the car is a bit unsteady underfoot, good footwear is advised.
But still well worth a visit.

We live not far away from the Santa Pola salt lakes so we are fortunate enough to see them often, what a spectacle. The N332 divides the lakes which is always very busy so they feed well away from the noise, but well within sight. There are always so many.I am surprised that Santa Pola has not yet placed a car park for bird watchers to use.You have to be very careful parking on small lay byes, when pulling on or off the busy road?.If you have never seen Flamingo's in the wild, and other water birds this is the place to visit.Always remember there is no shade from the sun, anywhere so be careful.Come on Santa Pola, create a FREE tourist area, the town is a great place to stay with wonderful Beaches, very Spanish for a change!,only 20mins from airport. The town, the Beaches, and of course the massive salt lakes all worth a visit.

I have walked the Clot for many years and have always enjoyed it. Not only it offers some quietness and fresh air away from the hectic beach, but it is a decent place for bird watching. You should known that the Clot escaped from the construction madness around it when it was declared a protected natural area. It offers excellent hiking opportunities.

We entered by a strange long tunnel then got in a small lift and went up really high as this castle is soooooo high up! I get vertigo so when I got out of lift was slightly apprehensive but we stopped at the cafe for chocolate and coffee! The views were absolutely fabulous as we were so high! There was a lot of walking on very uneven ground but was interesting! There were two museums inside on different levels and showed some really old artefacts like pots and flints! On every level was notices in Spanis and English so very good!

We used this service for the first time recently & we did not have a booking. Both our outward journey & our return journey were trouble free & efficient. The staff were pleasant & caring, particularly during loading & disembarkation. We were on it for only 20 minutes each way but it was a very pleasant experience.
