Qufu (pronounced [tɕʰý.fû]; Chinese: 曲阜) is a city in southwestern Shandong Province, near the eastern coast of China. It is located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) south of the provincial capital Jinan and 45 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of the prefectural seat at Jining. Qufu has an urban population of about 60,000, and the entire administrative region has about 650,000 inhabitants.

This temple complex has been on my bucket list for some time. A wonderful serene place walking through a series of Gates and Pagodas to the Dacheng Palace where the locals make offering to Confucius. If your over 60 years ask for the 50% seniors discount, if your over 70 years it's FREE. This applies to everyone not just the Chinese. I got there early and avoided the crowds. It was also minus 5 degrees C. which was another factor affecting crowd numbers.
