This museum explore the turtle preservation marketing (Tamar project - a non-profit organization dedicated to preserve the sea turtles in Brazilian Shores). In name of the preservation of turtles (ha ha ha), they made a "turtle zoo" with no attractions, only few species. The place has not enough infrastructure, where the people made great lines to restroom, no water Fountains, and the turtles are living in a dirty, and without maintenance, tanks. The gift shop has a sort of overpriced items that I refused to buy anything. What a shame place.I'll never back there again. Also, I hope you never do there too.

Itacimirim is just starting up, the beach front is occupied by new, older and derelict hotels, someone really should be regulating these treasures. Facilities are basic essentially barracas plastic tables and sun shade umbrellas. It is a long way from the road not well marked easy to turn the wrong way but when you get there the beach is spectacular. Seek it out you won't be disappointed except if your expectations of "services" is too high

Next to Foz do Rio Embassai the sea has strong currents but if you go away to the south or the North it is very cool. Warm waters. Clear sands and many birds spot spotted having lots of coconut palms. To get the salt water, just dive into the Imbassai River. There is a taxi on the rafts that sail the Rio Imbassai. R $ 5.00 / excerpt per person. Romantic.The small town has good inns and at least 2 good fair priced restaurants (Restaurant of Vania and SABORAY by Chef Mary Stella) A good bakery on the North entrance street. The cleaning by the garis of the City of Mata de São João is done all day in the morning. Good. But perhaps a better care may have taken in the stretch of the walk that leads the beach between the bridge of Rio Imbassai and the restaurant next to Foz do Imbassai River as it has places of storage of waste that exude odor. Perhaps selective collection can be deployed after an educational campaign for users and residents raising awareness of the treasure that everyone has in this place. Beach typical of the North Coast of BA. Do not miss it.

We took a day trip as part of a trip to Praia de Forte and spent 3 hours at the beach. It is a clean beach with restroom facilities (somewhat clean), places to order food and Skol! The cheese on a stick available there is by far The yummiest thing I have had in Brazil!

It's an incredible beach with crystal clear water, you get the opportunity to see small fishes as you go into these natural pools when the water is low in the sea bay.
There's no really people selling stuff as you would normally find in most Beaches, so I advise you to take water with you and maybe something to snack. There's a good walk to the beach so if you are with kids is best to pay the bicycle from down town in Praia do Forte to take you as close as they can, which is not so close. But it's worth the walk. We enjoyed very much and would recommend.

This is the quietest beach between Praia do Forte and Costa de Sauipe. Great for solitude surf and sea view. You will encounter donkeys and goats from the village. It is a perfect place to be idle. Access is also a little difficult. Follow the signs from the village. Beach access is good for people who like to Hike especially from Costa de sauipe i.e. along the beach to the south west from the resort at costa de sauipe and around the first point there you are! Access from imbassai is a longer 30-45 minutes if you are walking and only try that at or near low tide when the beach sand is firm, a few hours later and you will have only soft sand dunes which will tire you on your trip. So set out a couple of hours before low tide and walk back a couple of hours after. That way your walk will be idyllic coming and going.
Infrastructure is Basic, i.e. modern public sanitation facilities essentially missing. The beach barracas are similarly basic but fun to talk to the owners and have a bottled water or beer, but I have never risked anything other than that.( If you want to eat go to a restaurant in the village, the best known being "Sombra de mangueira" in Diogo which is well worth the trip).

This beach has high tide with quite large waves and then really low tide with rock pools etc.
When swimming you have to be careful not to hurt your feet.
Access at low-tide for rock pools need some sort of shoe to avoid slipping, snorkeling is possible and fish to be seen!

I have been on whale watching both in other places around the world and with Portomar from Praia do Forte many times before, but the most recent trip was exceptional. After a good briefing on the humpback whales by the staff of the Instituto Baleia Jubarte (Humpback Whale Institute) and a security briefing from the captain, which many other whale watching companies could learn from, we went out on a 4 hours sea-fari. First sighting was a sea turtle; then flying fish; and then first one and then another sollitary humpack. However our captain decided to leave the lonely whale alone as he had spotted a group of whales further ahead. Aproaching them we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by approximately 30 - 35 dolphins and with the dilema if the camera should point a dolphins or whales... In the end both species appeared on many of the photos and in the video from an absolutely amazing whale watching tour.
