We toured Avelada Vineyard and thoroughly enjoyed the estate, the history and the friendly tour-guide, Renata. This estate has been producing wines for more than 300 years and now produce their own cheeses. At the end of the tour we sampled several of the white wines including a very nice reserve, along with their cheeses.
This is a "must visit" if you go to the Douro River valley. The scenery and Gardens are picturesque and on a sunny day, this visit will certainly please everyone.
Shopping in their store afterward is a treat as their prices on their wines, cheeses and ports are very reasonable as well.

The surrounding garden is interesting and the views of the city are very good. But I didn't like the building, it's romantic architecture influenced by successive later works didn't convince me. And I couldn't see inside, because it was closed.

The place was empty, no one was visiting. But as soon as I entered the building I felt this was a different one. Not only because of the Exhibitions, but specially because of the building. Soon I realize it was drawn by an architect, a good one, Fernando Távora (Álvaro Siza was his intern)! The exhibition project is also very good, and it has really good pieces in the museum (5 rooms: identity, territory, archeology, trades, earth and water), it's definitely worth the visit. And it's only 2€

Great fun for the kids for a complete day. the kids can go in a lot of fun rides. they have also a small swiming pool to relax.the only problem is that the park get crowded and you can´t enjoy it so much, too many people... they need to improve on puting more atractions or a limit on the people getting in.

Penafiel
Castro de Monte Mozinho
