Naturerbe Zentrum Ruegen

Nature is everywhere and always changing. Let it be spring, summer, fall or winter - the look, feel and smell of Prora‘s beech forest at the Prora DBU-Natural Heritage Site is never the same. The Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen is open for visitors to experience and explore nature throughout all the different seasons. The 1,250-metre-long treetop walk takes you through the forest canopy and is packed with information and adventure stations. The “Eagle’s Nest” viewing platform, 40 metres above the ground, provides a fantastic view over the Island of Rügen, the Kleiner Jasmunder Bodden and the Baltic Sea. The modern Environmental Education Centre with its exhibition called „Experiencing and Understanding Nature“ is filled with exciting activities and fun facts for the curious at heart. A variety of offers and hikes. Local experts offer an array of guided excursions through the forest. The NatureLab is a great place for children and youths to get hands-on experience.

You take a walk the forest! Then you can see the entire island from the top of this cool "building". And you have a lot of games you can do...and obviously some cool information!

Granitz Hunting Lodge

We really enjoyed our visit to this hunting lodge. Parking is a bit complicated; you need to park in one of the official lots off site and then pay to ride the tram to the lodge. We enjoyed visiting the castle, but the climb to the top of the tower yielded magnificent views and was worth every step!. The grounds were lovely, they have a nice cafe and a great outdoor space to sit and relax.

There are not many buildings left in a bad condition, most of it is luxuriously renovated, but the cafes, restaurants, stores and hotels are in the normal price segment. The last buildings in front of the central building are under reconstruction now. This is the view from outside. But the visitor center makes the trip round, which makes clear in all drama what it is all about, even if the KdF building was not finished during the Third Reich. In the exhibition - which offered a very interesting special exhibition about jurisdiction and the constitution - the whole of the Third Reich is emphasized too much. Much is important for understanding what was going on here, but not everything is appropriate, but that is for the curator to decide. We think the KdF buildings are a must on Rügen. You can walk over there from Binz. The café in the exhibition is a gift, down by the buildings are very
