Moravia (/mɔːˈreɪviə, -ˈrɑː-, moʊ-/ maw-RAY-vee-ə, -RAH-, moh-; Czech: Morava; German:  Mähren (help·info); Polish: Morawy; Latin: Moravia) is a historical country in the Czech Republic (forming its eastern part) and one of the historical Czech lands, together with Bohemia and Czech Silesia. The medieval and early modern Margraviate of Moravia was a crown land of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown (from 1348 to 1918), an imperial state of the Holy Roman Empire (1004 to 1806), later a crown land of the Austrian Empire (1804 to 1867) and briefly also one of 17 former crown lands of the Cisleithanian part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1867 to 1918. During the early 20th century, Moravia was one of the five lands of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1928; it was then merged with Czech Silesia, and eventually dissolved by abolition of the land system in 1949.

Telč is a real secret in Czech Republic. Although this country is full of gorgeous Old Towns, this is my favourite, a real highlight, a true gem. The main square is 100% old houses, each one competing to be the most beautiful.

The Jewish Quarter and St Procopius' Basilica in Trebic

Reviewed By calvin722 - Buffalo, United States

I stayed over in Brno and did a day trip to this beautiful town. I was thinking to use the public bus from behind the Brno train station. But, couldnt find my way there. So, I used the Flixbus right across "Grand Hotel". The bus ride was about an hour through beautiful countryside. Trebic is not very big. Town square is about 10 minute walk from the bus stop. The tourist information center is by the town square. They were very helpful. We went there on a sunday, found out there was no public bus back to Brno. Only option left was the train. I will talk about that later. The beautiful Jewish Quarter and Trebic Castle is on the other side of the river.Soon as we crossed the bridge into the Jewish Quarter, I fell in love with the town. It was away from tourist crowd, nice and quiet, and definately gave me a feeling of quiet medieval town, the houses, ally ways, neighborhood cafe...All the sudden, it was back to the history. Time was slow down for us as well. Every corner was great photo shot. The train ride back to Brno was fantastic. It was over an hour and scenary on the way back was gorgeous. Train went back to the train station by the "Grand Hote;" in Brno. By the way, there are 2 train stations in Brno.
