I visited last week especially to see the autumn leaves. Magnificent display of Autumn colours everywhere in the temple.

The island has an important temple and many paths/trails to take you to some nice views from the island. I got there in the morning and it was already fairly busy.

It was a pleasant morning walk even though the the temp was about 1C! We thoroughly enjoyed the scenic nature. It helps that we are in our comfortable boots as some paths are abit hilly and rocky. Otherwise, even the elderly can stroll comfortably. There are a few nice romantic huts for rest and just enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea and greenery.

As one of 日本三景，Matsushima is just 40 minutes from Sendai, taking JR Senseki Line to Matsushima Kaigan Station from JR Sendai station. Another great getaway from city life. Don’t miss it if you are in Tohoku region.

The weather was pleasant. Great view and great stroll. Paid ¥200 to walk over the bridge to the island. Nice paths and nature. Definitely worth it.
