What to do and see in Mitte, Germany: The Best Bridges

February 16, 2022 Enedina Augsburger

Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

Liebknecht Bridge

Reviewed By Vladimiramirela - Mississauga, Canada

Depending on the type of bridge taken into account, such as water bridges, railroad bridges, or road bridges, apparently, in Berlin one can count between almost 1000 to over 2100 bridges. Liebnecht is a massive concrete version, crossing the river Spree, next to the Berliner Dom, supporting the two lanes of motorised traffic and pedestrian sidewalks of the intensely circulated Bundesstrase. I found it impressive in its solid structure and appearance and it compelled me to go up and down its stairs on both sides, just to see it closer and get near the water.
