The Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum is located in Melaka, a world UNESCO Site. The house is a combination of three Terrace lots that were acquired by the Chan family in 1861. Four generations lived in the house before it was opened as a museum in March 1985. Visiting hours from 10.00am to 4.30pm every day.

We were a party of 19 and had a very informative guide, alas, she spoke quite quickly and softly so several of us were not able to take in all the details.
Certainly a piece of history, easy to find, an hour would be enough time

This is big collection of intricate Nonya jewellery that the ladies of old used to wear on an everyday basis. The workmanship is superb! I enjoyed admiring each piece. Photography is allowed too!
They also have a collection of beaded and embroidered shoes, which are exquisite!
This place is a must-see for those who appreciate fine handcrafted pieces of art.

for better scenery, visit before maghrib prayer. The wind was warm and calming, and also time to get insta-worthy pictures. There are appropriate dress for non-muslims tourists to wear, as a sign of respect . there are benches,for those who want to just sit and feel the breeze.

The River Walk has the potential to be a star attraction. The walk itself is clean. The little restaurants and bars are a nice addition. The street art is ok. Just need a lot more. The problem is the river. They need to do something to clean it. It just plain smells and my wife had a difficult time with this to the point she abandoned the walk. Needs a lot of work

Not to be confused with other museums, this one is a private initiative, and deserves credit and mention.
A private home, in the Chua Family for several generations, it is a fascinating insight into the lives of the Baba Nyonya people of old Malacca.
Totally original, with a vast an array of period items, furniture and clothing. The house is almost untouched for 50 years.
We had our tour with Lim, who is passionate and dedicated to its history.
Totally recommended.

You can actually view Kampung Morten from the river cruise tour. The kampung houses are really well maintain and beautifully decorated. Kampung Morten is a peaceful Malay village which is located in the middle of Malacca city. In Kampung Morten, you can see many old Melaka houses.

the owner runs tours around the house from 9-6pm each day which is impressive. the house has a mixture of original artefacts then jumps to modern plastic requirements. It has a vast collection of entertaining spaces. A small donation is encouraged. It is part of the free walking tours in Melaka, take the time to do both of them. They are run by the state and are both completely free, with a little bit of soft selling.
