Luz has a beautiful sheltered beach with shallow clear waters. Not too crowded not too quiet. We were there in November and is was one of the few places in the area with a lively atmosphere. We enjoyed the beach!

Took the dolphin trip.
Very fast boat was enjoyable in itself.
Took about 20 mins to get to the dolphins then spent over an hour following them before a fast trip back taking in the coastal sights (and a quick visit to a smaller grotto).
All thoroughly enjoyed

Found myself on the usual family holiday, so hooked up with Toto Schulz to go cragging at Sagres. This was wonderful. Good quality rock and excellent supervision. Anyone who climbs knows that finding routes from the top of a sea cliff is difficult, particularly in the Algarve where some rock is quite loose so having Toto's local knowledge of what was available was invaluable.

Took a morning tour with genial host and guide Paul in the company of 3 other families. We got to see parts of the western Algarve you wouldn't get your hire-car to! Jeeps were comfortable and capable of the terrain, no hard-core off-roading just a pleasant safari in unspoilt countryside. Tour speed is dictated by the least experienced driver so you don't get the feeling of being 'left behind'. In all, a pleasant half day excursion that will leave a lasting memory.

Interesting little site showing the remains of the Roman spa and fish salting tanks that date back to the 5th (?) century, but it's a pity that the information board is no longer there to provide the details. It's great that the historic finds have been preserved and the row of holiday villas weren't allowed to be built over them but the whole site could do with a little weed removal before it gets too overgrown.

Good value 75 minute boat trip for just 4 of us £20 per head. Great skipper who was friendly, knowledgeable and a skilled boatman. Went to Lagos and back through the stunning cave formations watching the sea bream in the crystal clear seawater. All accompanied by an entertaining commentary in brilliant English by the skipper who frequently checked that we had taken all the photos we required. One member of our party was particularly interested in the location of the nudist beach!
