What to do and see in Luxor, Nile River Valley: The Best Classes & Workshops

April 7, 2022 Hana Mouser

The Luxor in Las Vegas is to the actual CITY of Luxor, Egypt, as marshmallow fluff is to fois gras. (We’re sure you knew that. We just enjoy analogies.) Sure, the hotel/casino in Vegas might have a beam of light visible from space, but we bet you'll find a hot-air balloon ride over the Valley of Kings much more illuminating. (Editor's note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. If you're currently planning a trip to Egypt, please consider the risks and monitor your government's travel alerts.)

A school for young people and interested visitors. Two brothers from Faiyum Oasis, Barakat and Saleh are great craftsman of traditional pottery. They can teach you to make pots, plates and more. Check the website for more details or come by for a visit!

We went to the school after a nearby gallery told us about where they got the nice cups and plates. Barakat and Saleh welcomed us with open arms and we decided to come by for 10 days everyday. They are kind, patient and willing to help you however they can. Really had a great time and super happy we got to know them and the school. Thanks for everything!
