Lower Austria (German: Niederösterreich, pronounced [ˈniːdɐˌʔøːstɐʀaɪ̯ç] ( listen); Czech: Dolní Rakousy; Slovak: Dolné Rakúsko) is the northeasternmost state of the nine states in Austria. The capital of Lower Austria since 1986 is Sankt Pölten, the most recently designated capital town in Austria. The capital of Lower Austria had formerly been Vienna, even though Vienna has not officially been part of Lower Austria since 1921. With a land area of 19,186 km (7,408 sq mi) and a population of 1.612 million people, it is the largest state in Austria, and in terms of population second only to the federal state of Vienna.

Gauermann Museum

The Gauermann Musem is an Art-Museum dedicated to the famous Biedermaier Painter Friedrich Gauermann. His themse were the alpine landscapes of Miesenbach, Salzkammergut and others. The singel details, the figures, animals, tress, stream or the mountains were studied in the nature, only by the compositional arrangement and the contents of the genre you can tell artistic idea of the image that is abstracted form nature. Every year the Museum offers a new special exhibiton, where you can see other Artists from the Biedermeier time. In the first floor you can find contemporary art. These exhibitions are changing every two months.
