Located on a rocky outcrop above the town of the same name Lenzburg Castle is one of the most beautiful hilltop castles in Switzerland. Today’s castle complex is the end result of 1.000 years of construction history. It evolved from a counts’ residence to a seat of administration of Bernese bailiffs to the private home of rich American families. Once you have negotiated the draw bridge and enter the castle courtyard through the wooden gate, you will immerse yourself in 1000 years of the castle’s history. In this original setting, history becomes an adventure. Especially for children and families: In the dragon research facility small researchers can explore much in a playful manner and visit the castle’s legendary dragon Fauchi. What child does not dream of being a princess or a knight. Secret nooks and hidden stairs invite children on a journey of discovery. Here they can play, make things and dress up as what ever they like.

Just back from my/our first visit to the castle, it was amazing, kids and adults loved it. It is on the top of a rock formation, several buildings, great architecture, well preserved, interior design done with love and taste, great written explanations in German and English. There were some shows outside in the garden of the roses and the inner yard, very good entertainment. Definitely a place to come back to. Thank you so much for this experience.

A wonderful interactive exhibition in German, French and English is a must-see for everyone in this day and age of Donald Trump, Jair Bolasano, Narendra Modi and other populists. Hurry - the exhibition ends on 28 June 2020. The exhibition poses questions of what is truth, what is a lie, why we tell the truth or why we lie. So it's really about yourselves, our society, presented in a way that challenges and questions our perceptions and our understanding. It presents this, as well as, information and data in a fun interactive way and hence accessible for all ages. Go visit the Stapferhaus which has been turned into the Office for the Whole Truth for the duration of this exhibition.

In 1905 the first wooden ester tower was built and opened in 1906. The Esterlit tower in its present form was built in 1974 by the local community. The tower has a height of 48 m and is composed of 19 concrete pipe elements. To the lookout platform 45 m above the ground leads a staircase with a total of 253 steps. The platform is situated at an altitude of 602 m asl.
