Transjo Hytte

Reviewed By Pamwiltravel - Arcata, United States

First of all, the actual site is in and of itself worth a visit. It's on a creek which has glass objects suspended in and above the water. The hot shop was closed when we were there -- summer vacation -- but the store was very busy with people making expensive purchases. The art work -- done by the two designers/artists -- is also accompanied by other well-known glass artists who have apprenticed at Transjo. The pieces were out of my price range but definitely worth it for someon who collects art. I bought some lovely glass earring. The fellow running the store has been working as a glass artist for 11 years, so we were delighted to get information from him.

Bergdala Glastekniska Museum

The museum shows the machines and the techniques that were introduced to rationalise the manual glass industry from the 1820's on. The collection includes manual presses, pantographs, Guilloche machines and other industrial artefacts. The techniques shown made mass-production possible already from the 1840's and was the basis for the economic succes of the Swedish glass industry for a century+.

Smalandet Markaryds Algsafari

Reviewed By Valverden - Worms, Germany

A nice place to observe very closely these huge animals! They also have a nice shop, a very snack shop (with great waffles) and a restaurant (closed at the time of our visit). You can take your own car a follow the path in your own pace or ride with their train. In our experience, we took our own car and had some “near” encounters, but with the train, the moose come really close!

Kosta Outlet

Reviewed By nancyn613 - Duluth, United States

The glass shops were fantastic and showcased the talent that is needed to create such beautiful works of art. Don't miss the tour. It was very interesting and informative. They gave a nice discount when we purchased six or more glasses. That helped cover the cost of shipping it to the USA. I wish we had more time to spend there.
