The almost-tropical island of Mainau features a magnificent garden at its center and an ancient castle, which was the former residence of the Knights of the Teutonic Order.

One of the best experience in Konstanz. The butterfly house was something we never experienced before. The Italian rose garden is worth a visit. Take a hike around the island, you'll find lots of places to take some beautiful photos.

Muenster Unserer Lieben Frau

Reviewed By jmeem42016 - Sydney, Australia

My partner was here with her daughter in 2011 and saw a wooden statue of Jesus sitting rather like Rodin's "Thinker" and she really wanted to find this again. So we went through the church and one room was locked so as she couldn't find the statue she decided it must be locked in this room. We even visited nearby St. Stephens to be sure. But it turs out the statue is in fact inside Muenster but we just weren't lucky enough to find it.
Apart from that, the church goes back to before 975 AD so it must be one of the oldest structures in Konstanz and if you are "into" churches this one is a must-see.

Old Town (Niederburg)

Reviewed By nnmercman - Camberley, United Kingdom

Konstanz is spread out on both sides of the Rhein and most visitors opt for the old town and harbour area. Parking can be difficult and although the majority of cobbled old town appears pedestrianised the odd car and van can surprise you . Not sure how old the buildings are as some look like replacements and there is work currently being undertaken in Marktstatte and surrounding lanes - also, the majority of buildings have modern shops and cafes at street level. Personally I think Stein am Rhein just along the river is more photogenic and also less crowded. However, there's a lot more to see and do in Konstanz - you can easily spend a day wandering round and only see a fraction of what's on offer.

Bregenz at the other end in Austria and nearby Lindau, Germany are two popular points to cross the Lake by boat instead of driving if you want to enjoy sun, water and air.
You can hop off and bathe or walk on the sand. All kinds of foods and beverages are available. Cross to Meersburg and walk the vineyards or enjoy the Weinstuben.
Sail to Romanshorn or any Swiss port and you can be at the foothills of 'majestic' Säntis.

St. Ulrich

Reviewed By schendl8280 - Kreuzlingen, Switzerland

Imperia

Imperia was not famous of her very strict morality, but probably that was the reason, why Pope Martin V and Emperor Sigismund, who are carried on her palms, were looking for her company. The beautiful voluptuous, loosely dressed woman slowly rotates around her axis so that everyone from the land and from the lake can admire her in every aspect. A real revolting statue, but this is the reason for its popularity.Thank you, Peter Lenk!

This interesting Museum shows us some interesting parts of the history of the city: the ecumenical council that happened between 1414-1418, the Second World War and many fossils, including some ichthyosaurs. The Museum also has a small shop and a coffee house inside. It is worth a visit.
