What to do and see in Innenstadt, Hesse: The Best Museums

August 4, 2021 Franklyn Hardiman

There’s plenty to see and do in this 2,000-year-old German city. The gothic Saint Bartholomeus Cathedral is a perseverant structure, having been destroyed and rebuilt twice since its 14th century construction. Catch a screening at the German Film Museum, stroll the exhibit halls of one of Frankfurt’s many galleries, or climb to the top of the Main Tower for sweeping 360-degree views of the city.

Goldkammer

In just four years of conception, planning and realization, the museum created a sequence of spectacular underground galleries and chambers in which visitors can experience gold in many ways. As a museum of art and cultural history, Goldkammer Frankfurt is dedicated to inform and amaze curious people and art lovers as well as children and teens. Unique and valuable exhibits tell the story of the fascinating element – from its origins in space to its significance as status symbol of different cultures. Of course its use as means of exchange and payment can be discovered, too. The exhibition is complemented by numerous videos and animations around the exhibits, which invite you on an exciting discovery journey through the small treasure rooms of the museum.

Goethe Museum is a wonderful museum which takes you back in time for sure. Situated in downtown Frankfurt it’s a great place to go for a feel of old Germany. Its definitely worth a visit. You cannot help but admire the house which is gorgeous in itself and certainly gives you the feel of how life was in the yesteryear. You also get to see the original kitchen & bathroom along with the old heating system. All in all an amazing time spent out here.
