Experience Swedish nature in a safe and creative way. Come to the fires, cook your meals together. Hit the trails following our instructions, bringing only your clothes and stay the night on our prepared tent places. Join the table in ”The Edible Country” and choose level for this ”doit yourself activity”. Or try ”Nature’s Chef” with your friends, a well adapted but more challenging outdoorcooking. If you want hiking and staying over night outdoors, try a Tentadventure – here you only need to bring clothes. In the southernmost part of Sweden, close to Copenhagen and Malmö, but in rural and beautiful areas, with forest, lakes and lovely hikingtrails – here you’ll embrace Swedish nature. We do not offer strenous and adrenaline loaded activities or full service dinners with prepared meals. We offer genuine local produce and knowledge, fellowship, cocoreation and stillness. But a lot of fire, some smoke, sweat, mosquitos, uphills, rocky paths and rain comes with the offer!

Skanes Djurpark Resort. Sweden. Coping with a cashless society such as Sweden and their SWISH carding machines is not easy when you are fixed in your older generation system. It all started at the airport for the flight to Sweden via Copenhagen for a week’s holiday in the cold but clean air. I was one of the minority with a paper pass for the flight in my hand pretending it was a ticket. Yes, a ticket, remember them? The majority were checked in on their smart phones and the desk in departures accepted them. Then the train over the bridge to Malmo onwards to Almhult again a paper ticket not the phone like the others. Now in the supermarket, a self-check handset and no counter to buy the food just a Swish contactless. What is going on? This is now the state in virtually cashless Sweden, where even a play-centre like Leo’s Lapland do not accept cash transactions. All tickets are bought and paid for on phones, and the phones read digitally at the end of the transaction with direct in/out banking. I am not a technophobe. I use my computer daily, but I have serious doubts that such a society could be brought to its knees by internet rogues, and flat batteries. Being the only way to buy tickets on the last minute for my family to enjoy a day at Skanes Djurpark Resort some 80Km south of Almhult was by phone. I didn’t feel good about that. The drive there was easy as the roads are empty and straight. The resort is easy to find, easy to park at and large enough to provide a full day for a family of mixed ages. Cost is high, but then everything in Sweden is expensive, correction except hotdogs in the IKEA headquarter store. A family of four, two adults and two kids under 12 would cost 269 and 179 SEK respectively each, that’s 896 SEK or £72 at the present rate of 12.4/£1. Not that bad if you say it quick. Sound expensive but believe me you do get a lot, unless the kids see the gift shops, then you’re scuppered. Bears, Deer, Moose, Wolves, Wild Boar, Bison, Hawks, Goats, Sheep plus a Tractor ride, lots of climbing frames and picnic areas. The tree walk is the best way to see the animals and the kids love it. An interesting whole day is easy, take the smart phones off your kids as they are too much of a distraction. The return journey was however much more exciting and memorable as a wild Deer ran out from the forest and nearly crashed into our car, did I say nearly, I meant ‘My God that was close’. If you are in Sweden and in the vicinity then go and spend the day there, do not forget you smart phone and make sure it’s charged and your bank account can stand the sudden shock if the kids notice the gift shops.

Bosjokloster Slott & Tradgardar

Experience one of Skånes oldest surviving castles - with events and exhibitions throughout the year, terraced gardens, a park with animals, ancient trees, playgrounds and rowing boats, a garden café and restaurant serving delicious local food, and our own boutique shop.

I have lived in Skåne for 30 years and didn't know about this Castle. Had family visiting from the US and decided to take them there with our kids (4 and 7 years old). Ity was a wonderful day for adults and the kids! This Castle - Monastery is a gem close to Lund or Malmo. The grounds are beautifully taken care of, we got a feee tour of the castle and its fascinating 700 years history. The kids got to try nobel dresses from 1500 and take pictures in front of the castle. The biggest surprise was that our tour guide turned out to be the Swedish Countess and owner of the Castle. After the tour, local restaurant served wonderful pancakes and later the kids got to play with goats, ponies and other birds and animals and ride a zip line (we did this too, so much fun!). To finish this beautiful visit off, we rented a rowing boat at the Castel reception to ride on beautiful Ringsjo lake. All of these activities were included in the visiting ticket. It really is a great and special place, in gorgeous surroundings, run with love and pride by the Nobel family. There are not many (if any) places left like this in Sweden. I am sure we will be back soon! Thank you family Bonde for making this a very memorable visit for us!
