What to do and see in Hong Kong, China: The Best Gay Clubs & Bars

January 7, 2022 Alice Mieles

Delectable dim sum, floating islands, and a one-of-a-kind skyline are just some of Hong Kong’s unique features. Get an eyeful of traditional Chinese architecture in Ngong Ping village, then take the tram to the tippity-top of Victoria Peak for unparalleled views. The rocks and gentle hills of Nan Lian Garden will bring you inner peace, as will a calming cup of tea in a Stanley café. Become one with everything at the Chi Lin Nunnery, a serene Buddhist complex.

New Wally Matt Lounge

An iconic bar that open in the late 50’s as the Waltzing Matilda Inn, located at Cornwall Avenue, now the site of a K11. The bar was renamed Wally Matt Bar and to the many patrons local and internationally became known simply as Wally Matt. Having to make way for redevelopment the bar moved to Humphrey’s Avenue still in Tsim Sha Tsui for many years. In 2012 another move was made and it's current location, 152 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. A comfortable bar with hints of its past with eclectic decorations plastered and stuck on any vacant space. Recent additions to the staff team include local and expat staff, focusing on a friendly welcome and good service. We look forward to welcoming you to Wally Matt as we all know it and officially the New Wally Matt Lounge an unusual fact it was Hong Kong's first internet gay bar. “THE WALTZING MATILDA INN" MUST HAVE BEEN THE MOST FAMOUS HONG KONG BAR OF THEM ALL A great message from the past and this over 60 year old bar is here to stay!
