This is one of the few places where history comes alive. The little town is actually on the border between the states of Bavaria and Thuringia. It was called "Little Berlin" by the Americans, as the town was divided between east and west, just like Berlin was. There is a Watch Tower, one of those used by the East Germans to ensure people did not escape into the West. The museum is divided in separate areas where you can see different things such as photographs, videos and various war related films, and, the most exciting perhaps, a section full of a large number of old cars a tank and other military vehicles. Quite exciting indeed, and also quite eerie.

Wir haben auf Empfehlung auf dem benachbarten Wohnmobilplatz übernachtet und sind dann zum neu angelegten Fernwehpark gelaufen. Uns gefällt die Idee durch Schilder aller Art aus allen möglichen Ländern ein Symbol der Völkerverständigung zu schaffen.
Parkplätze sind hier jetzt zahlreich vorhanden, dazu einen Spielplatz und Picknickbänke.

This is a small museum with a lot to see. Anyone who is familiar with Donald Duck will find a lot of familiar characters and places. The exhibition starts with a very informative short film and a room with 3-d illustrations of Donald's world combined with audio-visual installations.
The next room contains a biography of Erica Fuchs in comic strip form, I particularly liked the the way the artists had incorporated quotes from Erica Fuchs herself, her times and her works into the comics.
The next part of the exhibition consists of a series of interactive activities illustrating different aspects of comic translation - finding or translating captions for pictures, inventing onomatopoetic words for sounds etc.
For some this museum is an opportunity to (re-)visit their childhood, others can gain a fascinating insight into Erica Fuchs' approach to translating, localising and adapting the American comics for the German market.
All in all, a very interesting and entertaining experience for adults and children alike, although I would suggest that the children should be able to read and write to get the most out of it.

Theresienstein is the city park of Hof. It overlooks the Old City of Hof, and there is a great view of the city hall and the two main churches. Its gardening is lovely in Spring and Summer. There are a nice zoo and botanical garden, and there is also a small castle ruin at the park. It is well worth visiting, also more than once.

I love this place :) especially the small lake where u can relax on a hot summer day. it's clean and family friendly next to the botanical garden is a small zoo and a park

Wir haben im Theater Hof das Musical "der Ring" gesehen. Die 16-stündige wagnersche Originalversion wurde auf knackige 2,5 Stunden zusammengekürzt. Musikalisch und dramaturgisch hat mir das Stück gefallen. Leider war die Akustik jedoch nicht durchgängig gut. Insbesondere im 1 Teil war der Gesang schlecht verständlich, da die Musik sehr laut eingesteuert war. Deshalb war die Handlung für die Zuschauer, die das Stück nicht vorher kannten schwer verständlich. Insgesamt haben wir jedoch eine abwechslungsreiche Inszenierung mit vielen guten und neuen Interpretationen des Stoffes gesehen. Das Theater selbst ist sehr modern und hat uns gut gefallen. Einziges Manko: der weite Weg zu den Toiletten, die ganz unten im Untergeschoss visavis der Garderobe zu finden sind. Die Ticketpreise sind angemessen.

Alles möglich in der Linde ..bunt gemischtes Publikum. Eintritt ab 18.
Es gibt einen Saal und ein Zimmer mit Sofas altem retro Mobiliar in dem man sich sofort wohl fühlt.

Johnys! Bar erreicht man trockenen Fußes direkt aus dem Central Hotel. Neben den Thekenplätzen stehen einige Sitzmöglichkeiten zur Verfügung. Auf zwei Bildschirmen laufen ständig Fußballspiele auf SKY.
Bedient wird man vom Chef selbst oder seiner Frau/Lebensgefährtin. Wenn man einen guten Tag erwischt, ist er richtig kommunikativ, freundlich und man hat einen spaßigen Abend ... erwischt man einen schlechten Tag, kommt man sich als Gast überflüssig und störend vor. Das ist schade.
Die Preise sind in Ordnung. Zum Getränke gibt es eine Kleinigkeit zum Knabbern.
