The Haida Gwaii Museum opened in 1976 and continues to build an international reputation for showcasing Haida historical and contemporary art, All-Island artists and an outstanding collection of objects, artifacts and scientific material culture. The Museum is committed to encouraging and facilitating creative dialogue and exploring a more holistic and critical view of the multiple and diverse ways of understanding Haida Gwaii — home to one of the most prominent Northwest Coast First Nations cultures (Haida), and rich ecosystems in Canada.

We offer boat tours from one to four days long including fixed roof accommodations and meals. We rent and transport sea kayaks and passengers into the Gwaii Haanas area. We have a small outdoor gear store at our office in Sandspit. We also own and operate the Seaport B&B in Sandspit.

The Queen Charlotte Visitor Center is located on the waterfront with gorgeous ocean views. Open year round, we are the best local source of information on visiting Haida Gwaii. Inside the longhouse inspired building you will find engaging, resourceful staff, artisan galleries, an extensive gift shop as well as useful interpretive materials including a touch tank saltwater aquarium. Head outside to our interpretive garden and picnic area to relax and take in the fresh air. We also have a large parking area for RVs and clean indoor public restrooms.

We are located in the Sandspit Airport with our hours changing seasonally. Sandspit is the southernmost community on Haida Gwaii, and the only community on Moresby Island. We are the last stop and gateway to Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area, and Haida Heritage Site. Our community's many nearby bays and trails offer exiting places to explore coastal life and set up a base for your next adventure. Come in and ask us for a community trail guide map, in fact, we provide guide maps for all communities on island! We also pride ourselves on our gift shop which is a beautiful space to browse while you wait for your flight, or, to buy books, souvenirs, and local art before you leave the islands. Haawa!
