Matsuo-Hachimantai Aspite Farmers Market

Reviewed By quindra - Morioka, Japan

This is sort of a combined facility. It’s both a local farmer’s market and gift shop as well as a cafeteria serving great healthy local dishes. I had lunch here and tried the hiyashi chuka, a sort of cold noodle salad dish with lots of lettuce with a bit of pork and meat. There was so much lettuce that you can’t even see the noodles at first, which are the main part! Definitely one of the best hiyashi chuka that I’ve had. Hey also sell onigiri rice balls and curry buns, which are perfect for bringing with you on a hike around the summit of Mt. Hachimantai. There aren’t really any good food options up there yet, so I really recommend buying something here to enjoy at one of the wood decks on the summit overlooking Hachiman-numa Lake. With the popularity of the Hachimantai Dragon Eye, they started offering a “Dragon Eye Frappe” as well, featuring ice cream over shaved ice with some kind of sweet blue sauce.
