Beamer Memorial Conservation Area

Reviewed By Grimsbybud - Grimsby, Ontario

We live in Grimsby and have the great pleasure of having Beamer Memorial Conservation Area (We call it Beamer's Falls) in our "Back Yard", and to have the ability to go up to the top of the escarpment to the conservation area which is includes part of the Bruce Trail. In fact, the loop of well cared for trails though Beamers is a Blue Trail (short loop).
The forest is one of very few Carolinian Forests which has a wide range of tree and plant varieties. This Forest type extends into Algonquin park, and down (as the name implies) to the Carolinas. Some of the wind blown Cedar trees hanging on to the edge of the escarpment brow are nearing 900 years of age!
Three Lookouts along the edge of the escarpment, over the Town of Grimsby and Lake Ontario, provide truly spectacular views! One overlooks the Eastern end of the lake, and 40 Creek providing a view which extends as far as Niagara Falls to the east where one can see the mist rising form the glass when the wind is in the right direction.
The middle looks out over the town, the lake and allows one to see the entire northern shore of Lake Ontario from Burlington, through Bronte, Oakville and on to Toronto and, if the day is really clear, one can see the Scarborough Bluffs!
The third, to the western end of the Blue Trail looks out to Burlington and the west end of the lake. The Skyway Bridge can bee seen from here!
Every time of day and every day of every season is different. In the Spring (Good Friday is the start) Hawks, eagles and other raptors gather over the area, meeting here to pair up and head off to their breeding areas as far way as North of lake Superior. There is an elevated platform and the Ontario Ornithology Organization is on hand to provide information about the birds, and to maintain a count of the hundreds of Raptors which migrate through here.
It is a wonder to watch the forest, and the entire area ,change as the seasons come along.
It is a great place for a family walk, a quite stroll or to enjoy the beauty Mom Nature has to offer.
We go up at least three time a month, more in Spring, Summer and Autumn......

We were driving QEW towards Niagara and the wife spied this little gem. Excellent whiskey... especially the Double Barrel Reserve. Excellent shipping whiskey. I plan to pair it with some cigars around the campfire. The tour was great, the staff was very informative.

Beamer Falls

Beamer Falls is part of the Beamer Conservation Area, on the Niagara Escarpment overlooking Grimsby and Lake Ontario.
Trial thought the point are part of, and maintained by, the Bruce Trail, and offer some spectacular views from Niagara Falls to the East and around to Toronto across the lake to Burlington and Rattle Snake Point to the N/E
It is the first place we talk all guests. It is lush Carolinian Forest and, with the Lookouts, gives everyone a chance to orient themselves.
We go at least twice a month, winter and Summer.

We booked one of the special walking tours. We did a 90-minute walking tour last weekend that reviewed the history of several locations downtown. We followed the history of some families from doorstep to doorstep. Some of the participants shared stories and experiences. It was a great afternoon.
We have done the graveyard tours as well. Not to be missed. Keep an eye on the web site for dates.

Lakemount Worship Centre

Whenever I passed the Lakemount Worship Centre at the QEW, I wondered what it would be like inside. Finally I stopped here and enjoyed myself.
The edifice looked quite attractive. Once we entered we saw a lot of people. They had a coffee shop and many rooms for children.
The service started with worship. The band was very good and everyone joined in. The words of the lyrics were broadcasted on a screen.
Their moto was: “Refreshing”. That was cool!
They had a duo, a man and a wife to share the sermon. They were invited to come here. They were quite good. They made us laugh and the message was quite powerful.
I enjoyed my time here. Everyone was very friendly and we learned a lot. I was impressed.

I had a gift card for $100 for the previous owners of this spa. Apparently they cannot honour it as it is no longer the same company. No one called or emailed to let me know I’d be loosing the gift card if it wasn’t spent and I was living out of the province so had no idea it even was changing.
This is a place I have had a few different services done including my wedding makeup and manicures and pedicures for my wedding party and have recommended family members to go there as well. Now being back in Ontario I wanted to use my gift certificate and they will not allow me or even offer anything. This is now a business that I will no longer recommend and am very disappointed with the lack of customer service provided from this company in regards to this gift card.
