Grande Cache is a town in west-central Alberta, Canada, located 145 kilometres (90 mi) northwest of Hinton and 435 kilometres (270 mi) west of Edmonton. It is located in the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16, between Highway 40 and the Smoky River, at the northern border of Alberta's Rockies. The town is the gateway to the Willmore Wilderness Park.

Wild Blue Yonder White Water Rafting is located in Grande Cache, Alberta. We are a rafting operator specializing in family and youth-group friendly activities. We also book packages that include activities offered by other operators in our area and local accommodation. Our rafting trips range from half day, full day and 2 day trips. Our trips are on class 1/2, class 2/3 and class 4+ rivers. We operate from the May long weekend to the September long weekend, offering two or more trip start times per day, 7 days a week. RAFTING TRIPS DETAILS: Group Discounts Available. Fun for All: Sulphur River A non-stop party of paddling and jaw-dropping scenery! The Sulphur Canyon plunges 300 feet down then twists and turns all the way to the Sulphur Gates; Grande Cache's top scenic spot. Shoot moderate rapids, dodge boulders and squeeze through the tight spots while team-paddling. Between giggles and shouts, magic happens as your group comes together. Sing songs, learn jokes, battle with swords and find the gold! Performed in a hilarious improv style, our crazy captains will have you in stitches and the little ones bedazzled. This unique adventure includes face-painting, bandannas, swords and treasure... and you get to take it all home! Wild One: Sheep Creek There's no room for beginners as we launch immediately into solid class 4 rapids! The river comes at you hard and fast, and it's relentless. You'll never feel more alive as you're being buried in white water and your guide is barking commands. Sheep Creek plays for keeps, but not for long: only available late May to early July. The real craziness is in June, when previous experience & good physical fitness is required. Lower water is usually in July, when previous experience is not required, but a good state of fitness is still recommended. You must be 18+, no exceptions. Two Wild: Sulphur River & Sheep Creek If you want the scary stuff, but don't have the experience, this is your trip. Get into the groove on the Sulphur River, where the twists and turns of the canyon pump up your paddling. Then board the blue bus for the Sheep Creek madness: a super-steep, paddle-your-face off thrill of a lifetime. Good physical fitness required, must be 18+. ID may be required. Includes lunch. Price/person: Adults $150+gst Saturdays add $20 Kakwa River Family: 3-Day The easiest way to take your family on a real backcountry trip. Explore 90km of the mighty Smoky River; one of the last wild rivers in the Arctic watershed. With time to relax and be soothed by the river, there's also exciting moments of paddling, getting soaked during water fights and even surfing your boat on the waves. At night you're pampered with hearty meals and world-class treatment. Laugh and share memories from the day around the fireside, then crawl in your tent and drift off to the soothing sounds of the river. The view at Sulphur Gates, Willmore Wilderness Park a short drive west of Grande Cache is just breathtaking. If you are in Hinton, take the 1.5 hour drive on scenic Highway 40 going north to Grande Cache to see this hidden gem of northern Rockies where the Smoky River and the Sulphur River meet. You won't be disappointed.

Located on Highway 40 and surrounded by stunning vistas of the Canadian Rockies, the Grande Cache Tourism and Interpretive Centre has much to offer the curious traveler and long time resident. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to answer questions and help you make the most of your time in our beautiful mountain town. We offer hiking guides, maps and loads of information about the area.In addition, the Centre also showcases the fascinating history of the area through exhibits and displays: featuring ice age artifacts, dinosaur tracks, Aboriginal heritage and fur trading, full animal mounts, tree and geological descriptions and local industry.

Central Park Spray Park

Central Park is ocated at the corner of Hoppe Ave & Shand Ave, beside the Grande Cache Recreation Centre. It features paved trails, an outdoor gym, and in the summers a waterpark. Central Park also offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountain peaks and valleys.

Pierre Grey's Lakes Provincial Park

There is a beautiful chain of five small lakes in this park, three of which are stocked with rainbow and eastern brook trout; the park is also the site of an historic trading post. Pierre Grey's Lakes supports many activities including boating, hiking, birding, fishing, cycling, and skiing.

Grande Cache Recreation Centre

The Grande Cache Recreation Centre is a full service recreation facility. The centre features an NHL sized arena, four sheet curling rink, fitness centre, pre-school, as well as a brand new aquatic facility. In 2011, the town unveiled an aquatic expansion which showcases a leisure pool, water slide, wave pool, steam rooms, sauna, hot tub and new family change rooms. The Grande Cache Recreation center has something for everyone - be sure to stop by on your next visit, this facility is sure to impress!

Grande Cache Golf and Country Club

Set against the slopes of the Rocky Mountains, Grande Cache has a spectacular nine-hole golf course with grass greens. The course was founded in 1981 and sports a well designed layout that caters to all levels of ability. It is well maintained throughout and features rolling fairways bordered by tall stands of pine and spruce. Most holes have large, undulating greens and staggered tee boxes which allow golfers to alter the look of the holes.The course is one of the most stunning in the province, offering breathtaking mountain views from every hole. You may even be lucky enough to spot a Bald, or Golden Eagle flying overhead. Some are said to nest around that area. Foxes, deer, elk, and moose have also been sighted in the area.
