Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery

At the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery in Hunmanby, we’re making the county’s first single malt whisky. Our guided tours (£10) offer an insight of a working distillery & visitors can enjoy exclusive tastings of our maturing malt. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy a proper cup of coffee and locally sourced food from Pot Still Coffee Shop without participating in a tour. 7 days a week, 9.30-5pm.

Having done whisky tours in Scotland, brewery tours in England and wine tours in France the Prospect of an hour's distillery tour didn't really appeal - but the whisky tasting at the end followed by an afternoon tea did and it was, after all, a Christmas gift. Off we went on a cold, but beautiful winter's day to the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery. We arrived to find it was In an industrial unit on an industrial estate. Not what we were expecting, but the surrounding countryside was beautiful. On stepping into the unit, we were overwhelmed with the surroundings. Amazing industrial style lights, wonderful solid wood furniture with metal legs, all blended in to perfection. The tour (with introductory film) was thoroughly entertaining and, oh, the whisky. Not old enough as yet to be deemed a malt whisky so cleverly labelled as a maturing malt. It was and is (yes, you guessed, we couldn't resist buying a bottle.....or two) SO good. Could anything top it? Well, the scrumptious afternoon tea did its best. Served in the aptly named Pot Still Coffee Shop, where every window has a panoramic view over countryside and to the coast (not another unit in sight) it was truly delicious. Moreover we were looking at good Yorkshire portions - mini cups of soup, lots of different finger sandwiches (and I mean lots), scones with jam and cream, cakes and as many pots of tea as you might want. We needed a doggy bag to bring home left over cakes and left over are two words seldom found in our vocabulary. Would we go back? Definitely. Would we recommend it? - absolutely and on a good day you can tie it in with a trip to the beautiful Bempton Cliffs, assuming you are not too full to move!

This is such a lovely place for a walk, the parking is easy on the nearby road by pay meter, you can walk for miles but also the small area of shops and the lifeboat station are very interesting, when talking to the lifeboat team they told me the fish and chip shop stays open even on Christmas Day.
You can walk out to the Brigg but be careful with the tides they do turn very quickly also look at how tight it is to get the lifeboat into its storage area
Well worth a visit for a few hours, and parking is reasonable price.

In keeping with its Edwardian history. Gardens are kept immaculate with an abundance of flowers. Love the strings of light at night! The bandstand has been well kept and often used. Lovely to listen to brass bands whilst sitting admiring the views over the bay, and even better still if eating fish and chips from the local chippies!!

Every time I'm in Filey I make a bee line for this shop. I usually buy a specialty loaf this time it was pumpkin seed gorgeous I also love the chorizo rolls but my all time favourite is the mince, onion and mushy pea pie. The shop sells all sorts of homemade goodies something for everyone. Go on give it a try you will not be disappointed

Situated between the car park and the prom this garden area is pretty much what you would expect of a municipal resort park. A bit of mini golf, play area, trampoline, paddling pool etc. There is also a large, functional cafe.
It does what it says on the tin without being in any way unique or remarkable.

Stayed here for three days in a howling gale. A superb family run camp site. With close access to Humanby. Filey, and Scarborough. Great clean site with electric hook up. Fabulous toilet and shower blocks. Each containing two male and two female toilets and showers. Very clean and heated. Three fields for camping with tents or tourers. Very dog friendly, this is a working farm so there was plenty of wild life nearby. Great easy access to walks as long as you like with your pooch. The family are very helpful. Pot wash area and some pods to hire also.
