This is a lovely little village to walk the main street. The beach is nice sand and you can walk a long way from the town out to the small harbor. Just a great place to relax on the beach. The views are beautiful. If you are travelling through you must spend at leas an hour or two. Wonderful.

Went on this trip a few weeks ago, I was a bit worried about the boat - the sea was a little choppy on the day we went, but the boat was actually really good fun in the end. We did get wet, but it...MoreWe try very hard to make it as relaxed as possible especially for people who are a little bit nervous. As you have seen she is a great sea boat and gives you confidence. Thank you very much for your kind words.

Dropped in on the way back to Edinburgh from St Andrews as I’d seen that it had recently won an award at the Scottish food & drink awards. What a great place. Beautiful produce, lovely staff & a fab location. Prices are on the high side but it’s worth every penny. We tried the Findlaters chicken late & bought 3 to take home, to die for! Picked up lots of different things for Xmas & were just sorry that we were a day early & missed the Xmas event. Would benefit from having a coffee shop onsite but you could buy a coffee to takeaway.

Anstruther Pleasure Cruises-Boat Day Tours

Reviewed By TheGlobetrotta - Dundee, United Kingdom

My wife and I decided to go on an intrepid voyage to the Isle of May after bottling it for about fifteen years. After our initial trip got cancelled due to a "northern swell", we finally stepped aboard ! We had the time of our lives and both absolutely loved it. The hour long trip to the island is quite choppy but nothing too bad on what is a very comfortable little boat with a highly professional, friendly and knowledgable crew. As a bird lover, I was in awe as gannets flew overhead, razorbills dived for fish and amusing cormorants and shags nonchalantly sunbathed on the rocks. We also saw lots of gorgeous seals though sadly the legions of acclaimed puffins had already flown off for the season - but we'll be back to see them next summer ! That probably saved us from getting deafened and dive-bombed mind you ! The island itself is of outstanding natural beauty and is lovely to explore - there are nice paths, amazing views and a fascinating lighthouse that you can climb right to the top of (careful on the spiral staircase, folks !). You have to be a bit sensible and careful on your visit so it's advisable to wear good shoes as well as warm, waterproof clothing and watch your footing both on the boat and on the island (as you don't want to twist your ankle down a puffin hole or a rabbit hole !). Overall, this is an absolutely fantastic experience that my wife and I would do again in a heartbeat - Scotland at its finest ! The crew work amazingly hard and, in my opinion, are well worth a tip at the end of the journey for making it all run so smoothly.

I met an old overseas friend that I had last seen in the late 90's and wanted somewhere special to meet for a chat and something to eat & drink. I remembered the Elie Deli from a visit a few years ago. However, after a dreadful fire the Elie Deli is now in a temporary location two doors down. The Elie Deli did an amazing job by providing delicious coffee and sandwiches made from freshly baked bread and superb fillings of the finest gammon, blue cheese and fresh crisp salad. You could not ask for anything better. The owners and the staff could not have been more helpful and attentive, nothing was a problem and everyone made it a memorable experience.
This is what true "Scottish" hospitality is all about!

We have visited Pittenweem many times but never thought to go to St. Fillans cave. Picked up the key at the cocoa tree cafe. Unlocked the door with the key, switched on the lights and were amazed by the size of the cave. What a place! Imagination ran riot to think of how it would have been used in days of old. A must visit.

Scotland's Secret Bunker

Scotland's best kept secret.... Until now! Hidden beneath an innocent Scottish farmhouse lies Scotland's Secret Bunker. A 450 foot tunnel leads you to the blast proof doors which defend 24,000 square feet of secret accommodation which was built to help safeguard Scotland during the Cold War in the event of a nuclear attack. The Secret Bunker lies 100 feet underground and is the size of two football pitches, one on top of the other so there is plenty of exploring to do! Come and discover how Scotland would have been governed from the depths of Fife and how they would have survived a nuclear attack from the most deadly bombs!

Really enjoyed the military bunker, that was decommissioned in the early 1990s has been made into an unusual tourist attraction. Really interesting, especially the farm house disguised the guard house and entrance into the bunker. The sheer scale of the bunker is amazing. We really enjoyed it, my only criticism would be some of the information displays felt a bit amateurish and lacked details. However, the audioguide was well worth the cost, as it give you more details, information and background.
