The 2011 census recorded the town's population at 49,706, however figures released in 2012 estimate Dunfermline's population as 50,380, making it the largest locality in Fife and the tenth largest in Scotland.

A full day visiting the beautiful towns of South Queensferry, Dunfermline, Lower Largo and the iconic St Andrews. The tour includes a visit to the 11th century abbey of Dunfermline and the Tomb of King Robert "The" Bruce. The birthplace of Robinson Crusoe and the "Home of golf", St Andrews. In St Andrews you have plenty of time to explore the little streets, the ruins of the castle and Cathedral and take a stroll on the famous "Old Course".

Alan provides us a great family experience on this half day tour. He knows and loves the history of the city and his tours are both interesting and entertaining. He was great with our children and when we had an accident with broken eyeglasses he went out of his way to arrange an immediate appointment and they were repaired is a few minutes and we were on our way again. Alan is a very thoughtful person and will make sure you have a great experience. I highly recommend any of his tours.

You will hear about the renowned King of the Scots Robert the Bruce, and the war of liberation he waged against the English occupation of Scotland. We will visit the famous Battle of Banockburn where the Bruce defeated Edward the second's army against all odds. We visit many historical places associated with Robert The Bruce and used as filming locations in the critically acclaimed Netflix Movie starring Chris Pine. These will include Linlithgow Palace (also the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots) Doune Castle (which is also Castle Leoch in Outlander, Winterfell in Game of Thrones and the church in Monty Pythons Holy Grail) Craigmillar Castle, Dunfermline Abbey, Blackness Castle , St Michaels Parish Church and many more places of interest. Kevin arranged a custom version of his St Andrews trip for us to add multiple stops at film locations for Outlander — our favorite TV series. Kevin is the expert on the show and is full of interesting details about the filming locations across Scotland and the show itself. I’m re-watching the early seasons now that I have his insights. We also enjoyed the St Andrews visit of course. Kevin was patience and great with the children and is simply a great tour guide. He is not only very knowledgeable but he is considerate and kind. Highly recommend.
3. Outlaw King Tour
Travel in style on this Private Tour of Outlaw King. You will collected at your hotel or agreed meeting place. Then its on to Bannockburn the sight of Bruce's famous battle to see the famous Bruce statue and visitor centre. Our second loo cation is Scone Place, where Bruce was crowned King of Scots. Our final location is also Bruce's last resting place at Dunfermline Abbey. This is a private tour for parties of 1- 4 people. We actually did our tour in 2019 but had to post. We look back on this tour as one of our best, anywhere in the world. Don’t go to Scotland without talking to Stewart.
4. Explore The Royal Line
The magnificent ruin of a great Royal Palace sitting beside Linlithgow Loch a favoured residence of the Stewart kings and queens from James I to Mary, Queen of Scots. Later, we continue North to Stirling Castle, one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland. Several Scottish Monarchs have been crowned at Stirling, including Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1542. Back on your luxury VIP Class minibus we head East, towards one of our ancient Capitals, and your visit and tour of Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. After your visit, we continue to our lunch stop and visit to Falkland Palace. Set in the heart of a conservation village, this partly restored Renaissance palace is the perfect place to while away an afternoon. Part of the Palace is in ruins but the reconstructed rooms are packed with 17th-century Flemish tapestries, elaborate painted ceilings and antique furnishings. Heading South our final visit of the day is Aberdour Castle, one of the two oldest standing castles in Scotland.

Ed was the perfect guide for a Girl's Day Trip. We had some extenuating circumstances on a previous tour earlier in the week that precluded us from completing it. We decided to try a private tour for the end of our trip and so glad we did. We had a few ideas of what we wanted to see and he was able to help us customize a day trip to see as many of those items as we could. He was a perfect tour guide and so patient and kind when we wanted to stop and look at various things and places (hairy cows and shopping!). We never felt rushed during our trip and he was also able to guide us through several castles so we go to see everything in our allotted time. Had we toured these places by ourselves I feel like we would have missed so much. We had a great time on our day trip and I would highly recommend Ed for a private tour of Scotland and the country side.
