We live locally, so we visit regularly. The estate is permanently open but for the castle, Gardens and playground do check the website for opening details.

Spent an afternoon here while holidaying in Dumfries.We were greeted by very friendly staff.and spent a very enjoyable afternoon looking round all the very interesting displays.You can also view Dumfries using the camera obscuring for a small charge.overall a great way to spend an afternnoon.My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's all free,brilliant.

Family fun farm park with lots to do for old and young. The whole family can spend hours from feeding the animals, bouncing on the jumping pillows, slides,play barn,straw barn, boating pond,donkey rides,our choochoo express,quad biking and lots of fresh air out in our park area. We have a tearoom for lunch and gift/toy shop to keep the kids happy.

Decided to visit, Googled to see opening times which said open from 10am. Doubled checked website which said open every day from March. It was 6th November. Drive there with my two 18 month olds and it was closed. Phoned the number someone answered and when I asked if they were open said “we’re closed for the winter goodbye” and just hung up. I travelled a long way to go and to have such a rude attitude when their information is incorrect, was most galling.

With its moat, twin towered gatehouse and imposing battlements, this awe-inspiring castle is the epitome of the medieval stronghold and one of the finest Castles in Scotland. Although ruined, Caerlaverock is still a substantial structure and you can explore many different features within its unique triangular ground plan. The castle's turbulent history owes much to its proximity to England which brought it into the brutal cross-border conflicts and you can enjoy a fascinating siege warfare exhibition complete with reconstructions of medieval siege engines. After exploring the castle enjoy delicious home baking and freshly ground coffee in the castle's tearoom which is open during the summer and at weekends in the winter. Little adventurers will love the castle-themed adventure park and if one castle is not enough for you, you will find the foundations of another, earlier, castle visible at the end of a nature trail through the woods to the south.

Interesting castle and very helpful staff, lovely walks and a great little tea room. A shame the trebuchet is no longer on-site but still worth visiting.

The house is free to enter and provides a really interesting insight into the life of Robert Burns. The staff were very helpfully and knowledgeable. We were given a personal tour of the graveyard over the road from the house, including being taken into Burns' mausoleum. The gentlemen who took us to the graveyard was very friendly and enthusiastic and happily answered our questions.

Visited this dinosaur park with a dinosaur mad three year old, it was fantastic excellent value for money the soft play area was also very good we had a nice lunch in the restaurant. The dinosaur park was beautifully laid out with the bonus of a bouncy castle, the staff were very knowledgeable and attentive.
The toy shop was very good value for money and we also enjoyed the garden centre, we will definitely visit again.

My friends took me here while I was in Scotland as I love aviation! What a lovely place to visit!! I really had a great time especially seeing the Loch doon spitfire. My father during the war re-designed the pilots seat and changed the propeller nose cone over from aluminium to magnesium to make it lighter and faster. It was a highlight to see it after they got it out of the loch after 5 years of trying to get it out. What a wonderful job they have done on it. Would highly recommend to see this museum if you ever get the chance? Well worth it if you love aviation and old planes!!

Fantastic facilities especially with the addition of the new soft play at dinoland. Clean, comfortable, eco friendly and paradise for any dinosaur loving child! Having been to the cafe in the garden centre many times and now also the soft play cafe,the food never disappoints and was actually far better than our expectations! Worth giving the specials a try. Great to offer locals the book of tickets option for soft play too. My kids were entertained for hours and exhausted after their visit.

We called in here on an unplanned visit so were ill equipped to deal with the wet and muddy conditions after torrential rain the day before. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The reserve in general looks a bit shoddy and unkempt but I approve of this condition rather than some other sites I have visited which have spent millions for the benefit of human visitors rather than wildlife.
