What to do and see in Downtown, Canada: The Best Fun Activities & Games

November 23, 2021 Kaleigh Reichenbach

We've heard Toronto described as "New York City run by the Swiss," and it's true—you can find world-class theater, shopping and restaurants here, but the sidewalks are clean and the people are friendly. The best place to start is literally at the top—the CN Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere.

Secret City Adventures: Murdoch Mysteries Escape Game

Secret City Adventures are pioneers in theatrical escape room games and immersive experiences in Toronto. We design, develop, and deliver unique games that push the boundaries of storytelling, where players are the protagonists and the heroes! In this original escape game Detective Murdoch is missing and as Toronto's newest constables you've been called into action, but the clock is ticking! You only have 60 minutes to save Murdoch. Discover the clues, piece together the evidence, crack the case, and unravel the Secret of Station House No. 4!

This was our first time doing an escape room and this one was certainly very fun. Because we a fans of the TV show, it made it all the more engaging. The addition of two actors in the game also added a wonderful element to the experience. The puzzles were challenging and you definitely had to work as a team to see how all the clues fit. I really didn't think we were going to figure it out. With less than 2 minutes to go, we managed to solve the mystery and help Murdoch escape imminent death! At the end, the actors told us that less than 10% of the groups are able to solve the game so we felt really good about that! All in all, definitely well organized and highly recommended.

Went to Levelup Reality for part of a birthday celebration (6 people) and had a great time. We were all able to play against each other and in teams, and could talk to each other via the voice equipment. There is a coach in your ear helping you along if you get stuck or have equestions. Overall it was a lot of fun, and as a first time experience, I'd highly recommend it.

Pew Pew is Toronto’s first airsoft target practice range. Similar to archery or axe throwing methods, we promote recreation and entertainment through airsoft guns in our practice areas, shooting stages and obstacles. Whether you are an enthusiast or new to the airsoft world, we welcome everyone to try the experience out. Our coaches will first guide your group through our safety rules and the basics of operating an airsoft unit. You will then have the opportunity to test your skills in our practice area. Once everyone feels comfortable, we will move the group to our shooting stages and finish off in our obstacle course. If you are planning your next group outing, Pew Pew is a blast and a great time for getting together with friends, corporate events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, and more.

This is a really different experience if you are looking for something to do with the family or friends. You start out with some target practice with excellent quality BB pistols. After you become familiar with it, you move onto a series of fun target shooting and shooting competitions. You then advance to Assault Rifle style BB guns that are of extremely high quality. The session ends with a shooting race course where you compete against someone else. It is safe, professionally conducted and GREAT fun! The establishment is also top tier in quality.

Caught a show here whilst staying in Toronto for the weekend. The show itself was fantastic and the performers/ comedians were really on point with some great improv bits weaved beautifully into their script. The venue and service made this an all-round top notch night. Highly recommend getting front row seats if you can, meaning you can walk in and skip the line to be seated right away. Will go again when next in Toronto.

Home to the subtitled set, the Carlton plays films -- many of them superb -- that frequently don't see the light of day anywhere else. Many of the offerings originate in France, Italy, Russia, or China; there's also a smattering of independent North American films. Buy tickets early on weekends.

I've been to this theater twice now, it's just a short ride from Union Station by subway. I love the decor with all the vintage movie posters on the walls. It has a real vintage feel to it, not like the cookie cutter big chain ones at all. A lot more character. The bathrooms were very clean, and the staff friendly. The smaller theater was much more intimate than the huge, boomingly loud chain ones. The ticket prices were also much lower than most theaters. I highly recommend this charming little movie house.

SPIN Toronto

I recently went to SPIN for a work event. I figured ping pong would be fun (and it definitely was) but I was super impressed with the entire experience. The staff was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. They have an impressive beer selection, lots of great, local craft beers and the food was so good! I was expecting your typical pub fare (nachos, deep fried food etc) but we had an amazing cheese and charcuterie spread, veggies, vegan dip and some of the best chicken wings I have ever had! The staff also let us know that pretty much everything is made in house using local ingredients. I would highly recommend SPIN to anyone and definitely want to go back!
