We're fans of theme parks, and visited various in a short time. Some examples are the Efteling, Phantasialand and Toverland. Moviepark Germany was new on our list, and we hoped to be surprised, which happened for the wrong reasons.
First of all, the park is small, with only few decent attractions, while others feel old and badly kept. Second, there is little to no atmosphere, so walking around, enjoying the surrounding, won't work. Third of all, commerce strikes hard. This park feels like one big candy story that encourages you to buy, and eat, and buy more and eat more.
The only pro is that we went twice, one of which during Halloween. The setting during Halloween, with great actors and effects, offered an amusing, sometimes scrary and mostly entertaining day.
In short, you can skip this park which is just one big, crowded candy story, which lacks any decent atmosphere. If you go, go for the right reasons, or even better, during Halloween.

Really enjoyed this stadium, stunning to look at. Great inside excellent view where ever we were and great beer and sausage to add to the experience. Transport from the station was easy, tram went direct. Busy as you would expect trying to get home. The cost of the tram and train was included in the match ticket which is amazing value as we came from Dusseldorf.
For an average game the atmosphere was great. Would be amazing to see a top side and a good game.

This is certainly something thats unique and unusual. Especially in the Bottrop area of Germany, which isn't really a tourist hotspot. So its certainly a hidden gem to the more western visitors. But i do highly recommend, as it is so picturesque and unique. It makes for a great little hike to get to the pyramid, and once there, a very vertical stroll all the way up to the top. If you are scared of heights this probably isn't for you, but if you want to see a great 360 view of some German landscape, whilst onto of some modern architecture, then this is a must.

Wasserschloss Wittringen

With two children under three years of age, activities are very important. Schloss Wittringen is, therefore, perfect.
We arrived at lunch time, so headed straight for the restaurant. The staff were child-friendly and appropriate Seating was provided. There was a good selection of food, including a children's menu. The prices were upper mid-ranged - it cost €65 for three of us to eat and drink soft drinks (my youngest is not yet one, so we took her food with us, which the staff were more than happy to warm up). The food was tasty. That being said, the adult portions were too small and the child portion too big. Further, the waitress produced a shared starter at the same time as the mains - not sure how that was allowed to happen!
After eating, the fun started. There are two play areas, a lake and a good quality concrete path connecting and surrounding everything. Great fun for the children and easy-going for the parents. In the summer, the grassy areas will also provide a perfect place for a picnic.
There are animals here. Lots of wild geese and other birds, which is nice. There are also caged animals - goats, a pig, geese, rabbits, gerbils and hundreds of parrots of varying shapes and sizes. Of course, the children loved this, especially the area where you can walk in amongst the goats and pet them. For me, it was very sad, especially seeing so many beautiful parrots, including very large ones, cooped-up in a cage together with no room to fly, no natural flora or fauna and no distraction other than screaming kids banging on the windows. The largest parrots were separate from the smaller ones, but each cage was smaller than a standard-sized single car garage. Quite frankly, it amounts to torture of animals.
My views on animal welfare aside, the children loved everything that was on offer and didn't want to leave. So, a good day out for a family. It's easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. Access to everything is free of charge, although you need to pay 60 cents an hour if you want to park next to the Schloss - there's a huge, free car park only 10 minutes walk from the Schloss but still within the park area

Excellent place, located in the architecturally innovative town hall and contains a very large selection of established and important art works from Max Ernst ,Rodin to very interesting Video and Sound installations of contemporary artists. Currently a competition is being held and artworks are on show at the local mall giving the public the opportunity to pick their favourite. More Top notch sculptures dot the landscaped grounds around a small lake next to the town hall. The museum has always been very forward thinking and not afraid to mix renowned with experimental art. Very worthwhile visiting.

Ausstellungen, Kunst Märkte, US Car Treffen, Public Viewing usw. ... es ist für jeden was dabei :-)
