Suginohara

Reviewed By dalliance47 - Tweed Heads, Australia

Mt Myoko is a much quieter ski area than nearby Hukuba. The area is better catered for families, especially where some are yet to achieve the skill needed to ski like a pro. Of the several resorts on the mountain, Suginohara excels. The wide runs offer many Green and Red (Blue elsewhere) run options. And, for families, kids under 14 ski free. Unlike other resorts nearby, nearly all the lifts are of the newer (fast) style. The only 'downer' is that the (old) access lift often opns after the rest have opened. This means that to enjoy 1st tracks, one must drive a car to the 'base' area. This access lift should open at least 15 minutes (better 30 minutes) before the Gondola. There are plenty of good food options. So, unless you are a black level skier, you will have lots of fun.

I bought a local tour via Viator and went there with my 6yo daughter. The tour was travelling East direction, from Tateyama Station to Ogizawa Station. We noticed that there is lesser crowd if u start from Ogizawa to Tateyama when we were there in May 2018. The snow wall was by far the highlight though all the other points were very beautiful. Also the ropeway with 360 degree views of the snow clad mountains on all sides was a beauty. I would highly recommend this to everyone visiting Japan, and especially in April when the snow wall is at its highest point. We wish that we have more time at the Murodo as my daughter loves playing with snow and the walk along the snow wall was very amazing.

The Chirihama Nagisa Driveway is a 8 km long beach located between Imahama Houdatsu-Shimizu-cho Sakui-gun and Chirihama-cho Sakui-shi in Ishikawa prefecture.

The rain was bucketing down when my wife and I took the exit to the Chirihama Beach Drive. With the rain coming in sheets and the surf heavy, driving on the beach was a completely magical experience. I had expected that the beach drive would be prohibited during heavy weather, but it was not — we enjoyed solitude on the beach as we passed the thundering waves and listened to the rain on the roof of our car. I let the tires wade in the seawater on the strand. Just so beautiful and something a visitor to should never miss!

Shirahama Beach

Reviewed By christinaf695 - Yokohama, Japan

We visited this beach off season in April, when it was around 21 degrees and too cold to swim in. Nevertheless, we had a nice walk along the beach and enjoyed a picnic there, watching the surfers and enjoying the quiet. The water is very clear and the scenery beautiful. There is also an impressive temple nearby (on the side of the torii gate) that you can visit. I didn't think that the beach was dirty - yes, there were a few bits of plastic waste in the sand, but it didn't strike me as 'a lot' of trash. Even if the beach is cleaned every day, sadly, some trash will be carried to the beach from the ocean every day due to our over-consumption and use of plastic... It's also very convenient that you can quickly reach the beach by bus from Izukyu-Shimoda station or Shimoda marina. Just opposite, there is a Family Mart and a few cafes and restaurants.

You may experience the time with adrable birds in the park by watching, feeding and so forth. The park itself is quite clean and you may be excited to see the birds flying around you. "Birds Show", which I joined at the outside garden, is a lot of fun. Some birds will fly over you and behave according to the instructors' signs. What I enjoyed was penguins' walk. They were really adrable! This park should be worth visiting.
