Experience an exciting part of Canada's history by visiting this 19th-century fort with a sweeping view of downtown Halifax. Between May and October, the Citadel is brought to life by two historic regiments of the British Army - the pageantry of the 78th Highlanders and the precision of the Royal Artillery thrill visitors daily with live re-enactments. The skirl of the bagpipes mixes with the crack of a rifle and the assembly of recruits for the next foot drill. There's no shortage of authentic experiences to view and participate in! Kids will love the Xplorers Program - an activity book just for them. When the sun sets, it's time to experience the other side of the Citadel - join the Citadel Ghost Walk and experience the dark and errie lore from the early 1800's. Tours start mid-July and run every Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30pm until the end of October. Cash at the front gate.

I visited the Citadel as a solo traveller. I went on a free guided tour which was very informative and interesting, they have demonstrations throughout the day of shooting the rifles and the canon which goes off at noon. I would advise people to visit in the morning to make the most of it. They also have many exhibitions you can visit to warm up a bit of the weather is poor. The whole site is well maintained and all of the staff are in traditional costume which is really cool.

Jasper SkyTram is the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada. Watch for wildlife below as you gently climb towards the upper station located at 7,425 feet (2,263 meters). A knowledgeable guide will accompany you on your 7.5 minute flight, sharing a few insights about the area, its history and the diversity of nature surrounding you. Stroll along the interpretive boardwalk or try hiking the 1.4 km trail to the summit of Whistlers Mountain at 8,081 feet (2,463 meters). Make sure to stop at the Summit Restaurant for a meal at the top of the Canadian Rockies and visit the gift shops at the upper or lower stations for a souvenir to take home. From March to early May, rent snowshoes at the top for a unique experience.

This was my favorite of the 2 gondola/sky trams we took up to the mountains. Banff gondola, Lake Louise gondola & Jasper Sky Tram. the scenery was fantastic at the top, you could see the entire valley, the town of Jasper and Whistler etc. Once there you could hike up to the top of the mountain or just sit on rocks taking in the scenery.

If your traveling on Hwy 3 in either direction, up or down the Anarchist, and you see the pullout for the viewpoint, you better pull off and enjoy the view. It's good, no matter what the weather.

These trails are pretty easy, and a great place to run the kids or the dog. They are well marked, and the views along the way are amazing!

Gaspesie is rich with historical lighthouses, but this one was definitely our favorite to visit. You can also find short hiking/walking trails are on site.
