What to do and see in British Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands: The Best Things to do Good for a Rainy Day

May 19, 2022 Lean Nau

Sailing, diving, fishing and soaking up the sun on perfect beaches is what it's all about on the 60 idyllic British Virgin Islands. Largest island Tortola, home to capital Road Town, is a 12 by three mile haven of white sand, lush green mountains, ruins and rum distilleries. Underwater caverns beckon from dramatic Virgin Gorda. Island time rules on laid-back Jost Van Dyke, where swim-up bars serve delicious rum concoctions. Pristine beaches lure visitors to beautiful coral island Anegada.

Odila and her team came out to our villa in West End, Tortola and provided superb service! Four people in our party received outdoor deep tissue massages and the massages were great from the first to the last. My only suggestion is to add some different payment options but overall excellent service! Highly recommend!

For the last several years we had been making our way on foot from the cruise port to the Sunny Caribbee Spice Shop & Art Gallery for a visit (what lovely smells, sights and tastes!) and an inevitable shopping spree. We were sad to discover that this spice shop and art gallery were severely affected by the hurricane in 2017, and are now closed. However, the attendant at the tourist desk in the port told us that some of the Sunny Caribbee products are now available elsewhere in the cruise port shopping complex. Will be worth exploring further on our next visit.

Bamboushay

I've been eating out at Bamboushay for years but I have to say in the last 12 months I’ve noticed the food is just getting better and better. They surpassed themselves this week which is why I have written the review. I had the tenderloin steak special with mushroom sauce, the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had, melt in your mouth tender and cooked to perfection. A friend had yellow fin tuna with avocado salsa which was excellent too. At the other end of the scale they do a very good Pizza so all in all it's difficult to go wrong. The staff are friendly and certainly “yes” people which all add to a very enjoyable experience.
