Bayreuth (German pronunciation: [baɪˈʁɔʏt] ( listen); Upper Franconian: [ba(ː)ˈɾaɪ̯t]) (Bavarian: Bayreith) is a medium-sized town in northern Bavaria, Germany, on the Red Main river in a valley between the Franconian Jura and the Fichtelgebirge Mountains. The town's roots date back to 1194. In the early 21st century, it is the capital of Upper Franconia and has a population of 72,148 (2015). It is world-famous for its annual Bayreuth Festival, at which performances of operas by the 19th-century German composer Richard Wagner are presented.

We visited in winter, a lot of the statues and fountains were covered but it was still stunning. I imagine that in a few months the gardens and parklands would be wonderful. It is well worth a visit.

It's a nice place to walk around the lake, see some animals, sit down at the restaurant and have some food and drinks. It's free of charge, for both the park and the parking

The Eremitage is a amazing collection of little parks with beautiful flowers, stunning views of little castles, old stonebuildings, fontains and little lakes. It's a beautiful place for a nice walk and the restaurant serves good local food! On a nice, sunny day, I highly recommend! =)
