Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum

Reviewed By muskan123 - New Delhi, India

This museum was simply amazing. The artifacts and actual wartime weapons were fantastic. Being a geek or not, one would simply love the place. It was extremely informative and gave a very good interpretation of the wars. It focuses on the Kumaon Regiment (of course) which has made our country proud. There are three levels in the building in which the first has a wide range of wartime pieces displayed. Second level focuses on the two main leaders from the regiment. The third level is for some movie related to all this.
All in, this place is a must visit and trust me when you leave the museum, you will have a different kind of feeling, a feeling of pride and honor.

This temple is located in middle of Almora town but at a height and narrow lanes. I visited this place in late evening hours, the entire place was littered with garbage and several cows were seen eating from these dumps.
The wall carry the history of this temple but the priests were missing at that time, must have had gone for dinner. Just folded our hands and prayed for making this small town clean and safe for tourists.

Bright End Corner

Reviewed By rmanikanth - Gurugram (Gurgaon), India

This place in Almora attracts the brightness to the most from the sun during sunrise/sunset and is rightly named as Bright-end. We have visited this during the morning. We were waiting to see the sun rise well in advance and we could see the clouds settled around the nearby hills offering a pleasing view. As time grows by the colours of the various objects around the area keeps changing and the views getting better and better. The first splash of the sun started falling on a highest mountain viewed from a very far distance and then the rays started spreading into the other hills and to the full of the valley itself. There were few people doing meditation over there. The taxi driver told that the Himalayan mountain range visible from there is Nilkantha mountain range and I am not sure about this since I have never been to Nilkantha mountain range so far. There is a café located near this area and you can enjoy having slight refreshment here over the sun which has initiated the refreshment anyway. This place is nearby AIR building and there of lot of hindrances like electrical cables and nearby buildings to have a full panoramic view. I feel tourism dept. should construct a view point in this area to ensure the panoramic breath-taking view of the bright end.

Jhula Devi Temple

Reviewed By PrashantTN - Mumbai, India

Situated in Ranikhet. The Ranikhet area is mainly occupied by Army. The temple is accessible by road. No climbing of steps and hence elders may comfortably go there. Have your food before reaching there in case you are planning to have food there. There is hardly one small hotel wherein you can enjoy maggie and tea. In many of the temples in this part of Uttarakhand I observed that tying the Bell is common tradition. Probably as a part of wish or in gratitude for completing the wish. Here too you can find thousands of bells of different sizes all along the pillars of the temple. The road is good and road to Jhula devi temple is surrounded by Pine trees.
