De Walvis

De Walvis, perhaps the most beautiful place in the Netherlands. A unique location on het Groene Strand near the high dune of West Terschelling. With a wide view over 'de wadden', nature reserve de Noordsvaarder and in the distance our beautiful neighbor Island Vlieland. Enjoy on our Terrace, conservatory, porch or inside our cozy pavilion. We serve a delicious lunch or dinner and many other delights!

We visited this restaurant as it was indicated as the number 1 by TA. I had the grilled sea bass as this is one of my favourite fishes and the price seemed reasonable for Holland (21 EUR). In my opinion sea bass is a fish you cannot do wrong but unfortunately the fish was not well cooked, some parts were too soft and it was in general not tasty. The salad which came with the fish was not the best combination, the vegetables did not add any flavour to the dish, in general it was a disappointment. the decoration is nice, the service is good but the food was not good enough for such a well recommended restaurant

Right on the harbor opposite the yard for all the buoys, can't miss it. Outside of black wooden siding and lots of glass. Place looks rather new. Open design including visible ACducts etc. Lots of pictures of old and new village history.. Open kitchen. Nice tables and comfortable chairs. Interesting and varied card with needless to say quite some seafood. But the meats on the card also look interesting. Red curry fish bowl was great and the portion BIG. Friendly staff. Well priced. It may get very noisy once the sutfcrowd comes around.

We went there on a Saturday night with a reservation, which aooeared to be necessary.
The restaurant appeared to be packed including the Terrace in front of the restaurant. The menu includes popular dishes, including starters, desserts and an elaboratie Coffee menu. The service is also friendly, popular as well as a bit cocky. The restaurant is decoratie with all sorts of fishing and island related items.

Went to El Mundo last night. Was a great experience thanks to the food quality and the friendly and enthusiastic staff. The menu features some, not usual tapa's dishes (such as sate and rendang), which at first makes you wonder what to expect. They however exceed expectations with their food. Gamba piri-piri, sizzling beef and garlic mushrooms were some of the best we ever tasted. Also the off-menu options were wonderfully prepared and very tasty. So a big recommendation from us! Well done El Mundo and see you again...

We were expecting to find the place packed and crowded being in the centre. To our surprise the place had a lot of space between the tables making it very laid back and comfortable. We only had grilled cheese sandwiches (chicken/jalapeño & gorgonzola/onion; both really tasty) so it will be difficult to judge the food.

We were impressed with Storm. Four of us went there for dinner. We had 4 different dishes: 3 fish and 1 meat. All dishes were very nice, and so was the soup we had as a starter. Our top favourite dish was the lamb which was delicious. Service was very pleasant and the value for money ratio is excellent. The decor and location of Storm are also very good, so what more do you want?

We totally agree that this is the best restaurant on Terschelling (as far as we've visited the restaurants). The staff is extremely helpfull and friendly. Served with alot of knowledge and sincere love for their meals. Good value for money: we paid 75eur for 1 starter, 2x main course, 2x desert and drinks.
The food was fantastic; we had the meat as a starter, as main we choose the lamb (perfectly baked) and the beetroot with goatcheese salad (very tastefull). For desert we had the assorted local cheese, very tastefull. And also the custard with raspberry; great too! Last but not least, they have a good choice of wines.
We will be back!

Seriously doubted the presence of a professional cook in the kitchen. Unseasoned, over cooked pasta served with tasteless pressed French fries and poor quality salmon. . Average weekly cooking by my teenage daughter as more quality, love and attention than this. Serving couple obviously just a had a fight, they were ignoring each other and us. . On complaint we were not offered to take the untouched meals off the bill and charged the full amount even if we clearly didn't finish it. Even if the interior is nicely done this get your acts together or start a snack bar. First time in my history of many reviews I have to mark one star only, and that's for the atmosphere not the food

Grand Cafe Restaurant Zeezicht

Reviewed By UkOma - UK

This restaurant is in a perfect spot on the harbour at Terschelling and I was looking forward to our visit. With new owners in April we expected the best on Saturday evening. We sat in the conservatory with sea views - there is outside Seating as well as extensive Seating inside the main building. There were not very many diners but service was slow. We waited a long time for the first drinks and again for the food to arrive. My husband chose a fish called 'sliptong' which was so full of bones it would have been inedible for me.(We saw this fish served elsewhere and the waiter boned it for the diner). There were only a few desserts on the menu but two we chose were unavailable - and yet they were clearly all pre prepared.
Nice food on the whole but the dining experience was let down by poor service. With a short season they need to maximise the experience for end of season guests. With their location they could do very well indeed.
