We had reserved a table to celebrate the birthday of my father's friend, in total we were 7 persons.The table itself was as far in as you can get in the restaurant. Since it was in the evening it was rather dark outside and started to get darker inside too. I think that the atmosphere was a bit too dark. We were making jokes about not seeing the menu properly. The furnishing is a bit boring. Even if they have recently renovated there is still a lack of modern touch of the interior.We got menues straight away and our order were taken rather quickly. After this we didn't get much attention. The waiter came with our drinks and left them in a hurry. When I got my cider I saw that it was alcohol in it, in the menu the cider was labelled as free from alcohol. My mother ordered sparkling water, but couldn't drink it since it tasted so awful. We tried to get the staff's attention, and finally did, but it took some time. My mother sent her water back and instead I ordered plain tapwater, since we had decided to change drinks. She took my cider. When the fast waiter turned around to walk away my husband said that my drink had come with alcohol in it even if it said that it was without it in the menu. The waiter didn't excuse himself but just said that they had two types of it. I said that maybe they should type it down in the menu. He didnt answer that at all, but just left. How am I as a guest supposed to know all the drinks that the restaurant have in their stock?Eventually the food arrived. My mood was a bit blue due to the rude service that we had got so far, so I didn't expect anything extraordinarily. But I must say that food was totally fine, none of us had any complaints whatsoever.Paying went quickly, since you could do it by the bar. There was no problem dividing the bill either.I would really like to grade this restaurant more than just "average"; but since service was so lousy I can't do it. I really hope that they try to improve their social skills in handling guests and make their customers feel more welcome.Summary:Good things:- The food is really good and also worth its price.- Fast paying by the counter, also no problem dividing the bill between youNegative things (things in need of improvement)- Really rude waiter- Dark environment (a bit depressing)For the sake of the good food I would be willing to visit once or twice again to see if service has improved.

The Hotel is situated a bit outside the town of Vänersborg so if you're staying for more than a day or two a car might be advisable.The Hotel is originally an old mental institution/hospital which is a funny detail I thought.The room was big and spacious with a view towards the lake and countryside which was nice. It was not the most modern of rooms but had all that was necessary for a comfortable stay. We had a double bed as well as a single bed. The room also had a flat screen TV, a private bathroom and toilet for the price of 716 Swedish Kronor. This doesn't make for a cheap stay, but acceptable.We had a lovely meal at the hotels restaurant with starters and a main course and loads of local beers (we tried them all I think!).I had fish and my partner the burger. The food was very nicely prepared and tasted lovely although my partners burger looked like a frozen one. I've never really understood why restaurants often chose frozen, half cooked burgers instead of freshly minced meat you pat down to your own burger. Charge the extra cost and get praise for a tasty burger already.

Cyrano restaurant is a beautiful quaint restaurant the perfect start to our short stay in Sweden. The staff were very attentive and friendly giving us recommendations for the specials and they did not disappoint. The food was divine, even the children which are usually fussy eaters cleared their plates. The pizzas are the best. My husband had steak which was equally as lovely. The prosecco was lovely too and not too expensive. I would definitely highly recommend this restaurant.

Recommended by the hotel staff, it was definitely an excellent recommendation. Ate dinner twice and was completely satisfied each time. Food was truly excellent and I can certainly highly recommend this restaurant!
