Reviewed By Anja KI stayed at the Hotel Kreuzer for four nights in August 2019 with my husband and two sons, thirteen and four years of age. We had a double room for us and another one for the kids. The boys’ room wasn’t next to ours but around the corner even though we had booked well in advance. That was a little inconvenient, though not a big problem. Little platters with fruit, chocolates and a welcome note had been set up in the rooms, which we thought was very nice. The rooms were functional but rather tastefully decorated and equipped with TV, safe, and hairdryer. No A/C, but that is probably hardly ever needed in Wedel. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom looked brand new and had a good strong shower. The only toiletries provided were soap and body wash. One of our rooms opened onto a nice courtyard with tables and chairs to sit in nice weather. The other room, however, only had a window facing the train tracks. The view wasn’t nice but there was hardly any noise from the trains as long as the window was closed. Other than the slightly confused check-in and the allocation of rooms, the service at Hotel Kreuzer was excellent and way above three-star-standard. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet, too, was excellent and better than we would have expected in a three-star hotel. It offered a great range of choices and the food was of good quality, fresh, and nicely presented. We were in Wedel for a wedding, so the hotel was conveniently located for us. I’m not sure how convenient it would be as a base for exploring Hamburg. We went to Hamburg harbour by car and it took us about forty minutes. Taking the train doesn’t take much longer, I believe, but we were told that it’s about a fifteen-minute-walk to the train station from the hotel. A number of our relatives were staying at the Kreuzer as well and we were all happy with our choice of hotel. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but once you enter it is really quite nice.

This is a family owned business and tourists hotel that focuses on your personal comfort, situated in the heart of Wedel right in front of the gates of Hamburg. The S-Train-Station (150 m) goes directly toHamburg and Hamburg Airport. For your convenience there are many restaurants close by, all just a short walk away (10-200 m).Our nice lake the Elbe is just 20 minutes by walk. In a relaxed atmosphere we serve our well known full breakfast in ourlovely breakfast room: fresh fruits, rich cold cuts and cheese plates, delicious salads, fresh fish and scrambled eggs with bacon, differentcereals, yoghurt, tasty jams and cake and bread (please ask for the self made products).

The room was quaint and comfortable, the service and attentive staff impeccable, the breakfasts the best we had in all of our 19 day Germany travels with free parking and easy, walking distance access to the S-Bahn station. Great location and just what you'd expect from a right-sized, truly family run (and family proud) hotel. Can't wait until our next visit.

Reviewed By natalieb382We stayed here because of family living in Wedel. We stayed for three night in two double rooms as the family apartments were already booked. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we already booked for next year. Breakfast is super also and good restaurants are in walking distance. Only thing is that they could provide nutella (or similar) for kids. Also, the rooms are somewhat old but ok.

Reviewed By way2go07We booked both Borkum & New York rooms for 3 nights. The rooms are really suites and we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of space we had - and at a very reasonable price! The house is on a quiet residential road with very little traffic. Wedel town has a lovely friendly feel to it with lots of shops and restaurants. Pier 13 is a 10 minute walk to the Sbahn which takes you to Hamburg in 40 minutes. Also from Pier 13 a 5 minute stroll takes you to the Hamburg Port Welcome Point on the river Elba where all ships entered the port are given a special welcome. At Pier 13 you will be warmly greeted by Ingrid who has thought of everything to make you stay easy and comfortable. The rooms were spotless. There is lots of information available on the local area and Hamburg. We enjoyed great breakfasts and were offered a wide choice. Pier 13 is a lovely house to stay in and relax after a days sight-seeing. We would highly recommend.

I found the hotel parking very good and easy, the hotel itself sits just up the road from a lovely walk down to a self made harbour with a couple of cafes. Very nice 2 minute walk on a warm evening. The hotel was clean and the staff were happy and Pleasant. I didn't eat dinner in the restaurant because it wasn't very busy, so I checked out the local area and found a restaurant called porter House, wow if you like steak then please go there it was lovely food and friendly staff and only a 4 minute drive away. The hotel doesn't have a bar but you can take beer or wine from a fridge and write your room number down. There is a little gym on site could do with updating, but if it's not used that much then they won't. If you want to do a lite workout then you can. The room was a bit basic for me, it was clean. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the pillow was so soft it felt like there wasn't one. Overall I would stay again but not for more than a couple of nights.
