I got a room in the first floor, going up by a staircase and quite some distance down the hallway. looking out at their own winery. Room is not that big but adequate in space, bathroom is spacious enough, looked all quite new and was very clean. I slept like a log in the bed. wifi is of a good quality, however needed to log in several times. One remarkable thing, the room has no writing desk nor a table, this was a bit uncomfortable as I was travelling for business and needed to do some work on my laptop. Breakfast was in buffet style and very nice. good palce for a stopover.

Midrange, family owned hotel in perfect location

The staff is friendly and helpful, the family who ownes the hotel even have there own vinyard and you can taste and buy their wine there! The rooms are clean with TV and minibar, can be filled after request. Bathroom enough space and good storage space. Breakfast offer all you need. I can warmly recommend this hotel!

They were so close......
Reviewed By PKaI've been delaying this review because I hate writing bad reviews, but what can you do.... We stayed here for 3 nights with our dog in October 2021. The location of the hotel is beautiful, it sits in the middle of wine yard so you get nice views and there is good walking trails all around. Rooms are smallish, but not too small, nice beds and minibar. Rooms are kept extremely clean. Breakfast selection is excellent with lots of local delicacies and the staff at breakfast room are fabolous! Which gets us to the not so good parts. Apart from the check-in and the staff at breakfast, the sercice is the problem of this hotel, especially if you don't speak german. On our last night, it was pouring down and we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant (it is rather long walk to the old town where most of the Volkach restaurants are). We go to the restaurant and no, you cannot eat here, you have no reservation and we have party of xx persons. The restaurant was empty at that moment, so we tried to suggest that we are fast eaters, we can get out quickly. No, that was not an option, neither was room service ("No, we don't do that"). No help at all, just cold no to everything, no help or suggestions what we should to etc. So, we took drinks at the bar and tried to think what to do. In the end, we ended up walking to nearest supermarket in the pouring rain to get us something to eat. Not good guys. Next morning, we were checking out, I gave our room number, told them what we had used from minibar (1 beer). I paid and as I walked out, I started to think that wait a minute, didn't we pay this hotel in advance (we had 4 hotel reservations on this trip and I did not remember, this was my bad). At the car, I checked and yes, I had paid this hotel in September. So, back to the reception, same clerk as before, told him that we already paid and showed him the document. With out a word, he just works on the terminal and then gives me the recipe, "It's cancelled". Apparently their system does not show that you have already paid, or he just didn't care....but anyway, no apology, no nothing, unbelievable. Oh, and I ended up paying that 1 beer from minibar with cash, and even that I had to ask him (how about the beer?). In the big picture, small things, but they really can (and in our case, it did) make you feel bad about the hotel.

From the picture perfect town to the Hotel itself which was very clean and comfortable with lovely rooms. We experienced true German hospitality. The staff and owners were so very welcoming and kind. It is truly the sort of hotel that makes you want to go back time and time again and I intend to! I cannot recommend it enough.

The Hotel is located in the heart of Volkach you just need to get out of the house and enjoy a beautiful city from its heart. Breakfast is amazing with a great variety of food and fresh vegetables. Rooms are clean and up to a high standard. Air-conditioned and equipped with convienent furniture. We enjoyed our stay in this perfect environment.

Wonder if we will regret this review
Reviewed By Via2rArriving from a cool Scandinavia we sought refuge in the Vogelsburg (“fugales burc,” nothing to do with birds) for nearly a week. This time we wanted to take advantage of the renovated Vogelsburg in a deluxe room. What a kind reception a late Sunday afternoon! Being first invited to unload the car in the courtyard and not in the distant parking area and then being advised to book a table as the kitchen would soon be closing. Our room was large with everything being as we were led to expect, with a very big and airy bathroom and a comfy bed. Being familiar with the area we just wondered, was this actually the room with river view? Well, if you leaned out of the window you got the river view. Going to dinner we saw that the terrace we had visited so often had been renovated and preserved. This was always our favourite place to spend an early evening, enjoying the fantastic view, with a bottle of Juliusspital wine from a “Vogelsburg lage” and some freshly made asparagus. Somewhat surprisingly we could not get service just outside the restaurant, as this area had a kind of self-service. Although rather confusingly, we were served the delicious asparagus from the restaurant. Perhaps understandable, giving staff shortages related to Covid-19. On the other hand, the hotel might rope off the area immediately in front of the restaurant and serve hotel guests here. Next morning and the subsequent mornings we were greeted by very friendly staff, and a sumptuous breakfast, exactly what we had looked forward too, planning to spend the week wandering the “Weinberge” and the small towns, drinking some wine and having light meals in the town squares or in “Hinterhöfle” in Volkach. All very satisfying. Except that is for a hallux rigidus, a glorious name for a sprained big toe, a result of bumping my foot against a hidden step in the restaurant. My fault, as it was actually marked. Still, it did not dent the impression of a wonderful week at Vogelsburg and of the treks (now rather slowly) through the area. The explanation for the strange title … Well, perhaps a positive review may attract more guests, and thus we may find it difficult to get a “de luxe” room next time. Enjoy, but please … Mind the step!

Fantastic, very clean loft and lovely staff
Reviewed By gwodan2 adults and one child visited this lovely town. It was a one night stay as we were on our way to Toscany. Lovely and friendly staff. The loft we stayed in was very clean and modern and had all nessesary commodities. Comfortable beds. The only thing that would have been nice to have was aircondition as the loft was very warm. Breakfast was simple but good. In the evening we tried their own wine which was excellent. All in all we would have liked to stay in Vollkach a bit longer.

A feminine rustic experience
Reviewed By Tore_TravellerStayed here during a biketrip and was greeted by a friendly hostess. Had a pleasant beer outside looking at the funny interior chairs that is like a trademark for the hotel. The hotel had evidence all over that someone running this place has an eye for interior. Nice breakfast with a homemade salad/omelet that made the breakfast more outstanding than a normal breakfast.
