As we stayed at this lovely hotel and as my son and his girlfriend were visiting us, we decided to just pop down for drink and see if we were also were going to eat here. We decided to do so after have spoken with the restaurant manager and it was a surprisingly lovely dinner in a smart contemporary surrounding. It was really "fun dining" with half and full portions so you can combine as you like for starter and main. Good selections of wine but from quite a high price level, not so unusual in Sweden unfortunately. Lovely service. But one thing upset me and it was the price for an G & T, 28â¬!!!!??? But except that, it was worth the money and I guess it might be more visits, as I have already made another booking at the hotel.

We visited Teatercafeet in Umeå a saturday in mid september. The table was book to 20.00 o'clock.When we where to order, the waitress informed that the halibut, I wanted to order, was finished.But suddenly she came back and said that there was one portion left. When I ordered my wine, it was the same thing. That wine was finished. But suddenly they had a bottle of it. And as we ordered, another waiter come to our table and asked if I am going to have Chenin Blanc now again.We have never visited this restaurang before.The quality of the food was so-and-so. I could have done it better at home.We choose the restaurang due to good references. But we where very dissapointed. The service was amateur and the food not of a "fine"dining restaurang standard. So thank you but no thank you. Next time in Umeå we will choose another and hope for the best.

After we had some tapas at another place we went to explore this place as neither of us four had tried it before and it was a pleasant experience. We hadn't made a reservation but we got a table and three of us went for the Tarte Flambée with lobster, whitefish roe and more. It was great and was accompanied by a nice riesling by glass and they serve many nice wines by glass. The fourth person had a nice lamb also with a lamb sausage from a local producer; Hansens Chark, very enjoyable also with a glass of red Rioja. Overall, it was a very positive experience and the staff was absolutely lovely and caring. We'll be back.

This is the place to be when it's nice sunny, situated "on a boat" in the Umeå river. It have a pub service, as you go to the bar and order and pay for the meal and drinks, and then they deliver it to your table. No problems. The food is quite simple but quite good and good for a grub and a pint. This time we had pizza from the wood oven, pizzas with local ingredients like reindeer.The staff can be very unlike from very lovely to grumpy. Open all day from 12-12 or something like that.

I took my daughter and her boyfriend here for lunch since I've wanted to visit this place for some time. Our lunch was well worth the 25 km drive from the city centre. Here I had the fried herring of my life served with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam. Kvarkenfisk is located at the outer end of the peninsula Rovögern and has quite a scenic location although the surroundings are not all that scenic since there's still ongoing construction here. The restaurant also sell some of their seafood products over the counter.

A family dinner. Well, for myself everything was very nice. 4-course surprise sharing meny was tasty and same time innovative and traditional. Some of party didn't like all ingredients but that's life. I did enjoy all. Kids meny is a bit limited. They get all portions at half price but would be good to have something easy going kids food too. The restaurant was pretty full but in relation to that service timing was ok. This isn't quick food restaurant so the service is accordingly (not slow but..). The best: tastes. The second best: the surroundings and service. I recommend this.

My wife and I were recommended this restaurant by staff at our rather upmarket hotel in Umeå and we were not the least disappointed. I had a delicious smoked char, but what impressed us above everything else was my wife's dish - fish and chips Swedish style, thus based on perch ("abborre" in Swedish) instead of cod or haddock as typically used in the British home of this dish. Simply brilliant (and why have we never found this genial local adoption anywhere else in Sweden)? Good, prompt and friendly service as well.

Hunger och törst (hunger and thirst) is a relatively new restaurant in Umeå. It is situated in the cellar of Aschanska Villan close to the Ume river and within walking distance from the main square. The concept here is rather exclusive fixed dinners, your choice is only between 3 and 5 courses. There is a wine list if you don't want to follow the chef's wine recommendations and every week the menu changes. I have visited the restaurant twice and I rate the restaurant very good, but not excellent. The fact that the restaurant is situated in a cellar is for me a minus. The inner room, in particular, is dark and has only artifical light.

Not without thinking about how the restaurant came to end here, the converted garage offers a welcoming restaurant environment.A kitchen that lives in the present and offers tasty 3 course menus, it's not without making it difficult to choose.Do not know if the kitchen fan has stopped working, but powerful fragrances spread from the open kitchen.Starters, Chanterelle ravioli, despite its slightly thick pasta dough, was a bit of freshness, and very well-"composed".The main course, Halibut was accompanied by maybe an ingredient too much.Ambitious cooks have difficulty keeping the number down. In addition, three French cheeses that I would rather have seen three Swedish cheeses, a somewhat strange marmalade as an accessory.Knowledgeable and witty waitress who takes care of the entire dining room.A tasty and which can be rare, an affordable dinner.
