Valle Central Specialty lodgings | Places to Stay in Valle Central

June 12, 2023 Madelene Haan

Chile's Valle Central, a verdant valley tucked between the Andes and the coastal mountain ranges, has a mild climate and moist soil perfect for grape growing. Made up of four distinct wine regions, Maipo, Rapel, Curico and Maule, the area is criss-crossed by well-traveled wine roads. At the northern end of the valley is Maipo, the oldest of Chile's wine regions, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon. At the opposite end is Maule, which still grows Pais, the first grape brought to South America.

Wonderful Hidden Gem

Reviewed By Luv2Travel4Funk

My wife and I wanted to go to a vineyard near San Fernando so we reserved a night at Santa Teresita. We were very delighted with the surroundings and calm of the place. The swimming pool was pristine and they even had a place to sit outside and listen to music, light an open fire pit or barbecue. The décor in the rooms was nice and limited with an old table with water. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep. In the morning, the breakfast was mostly locally made. The eggs (from happy chickens) were amazing. I don’t like a lot of sweet things but the apple turnover strudel whatever was like a stick of butter with flour and the right amount of green apple --- I had to have two servings. They also had a Nespresso machine that I used several times during breakfast. It was a wonderful experience the price was more than right for the service we received. The people were kind and courteous. When we go back, we will stay here and you should too.

Sommelier Hotel Boutique

Hotel Sommelier Boutique has a privileged location in the heart of Santiago. It is an avant-garde and renovated building that has twenty four rooms distributed in it`s eigh cozy floors: each one with the name of a wine varietal in particular, refined carrara marble staircases and beautiful hand-made stained glass windows inspired by Alfons Mucha, who interpreted the fascinating world of wine in all it`s glory. Restaurant Antaño, located on the first floor of the Hotel, offers the most tasty and homemade dishes focused on traditional Chilean cuisine. In it we can enjoy from a delicious crab stew, to an irresistible tres leches (cake made with three types of milk), Antaño sahres the same menu wit its pleasant terrace located in the highest part of the building or SkyBar. A large terrace with a panoramic view of Santa Lucia Hill and a large part of the city. Where it would be unforgivable to miss the opportunity to enjoy the most delicious cocktails and signature drinks.

Great Boutique Hotel

This is a very unique property. Each floor is a designated wine (Merlot/Sauvingnon Blanc/etc) and each room is decorated with wine in mind. Rooms are extremely large and well appointed. Everything was very clean and staff are all friendly and helpful. If we have any kind of complaint it is the bed is extremely firm, to the point of being hard. Breakfast is included and is a regular type buffet. What isn't regular was that my wife forgot her purse on the back of her chair when we got up. Several minutes later she discovered she didn't have it and we returned to find that the staff had safeguarded it and it was returned to her by the front desk - everything, including several thousand dollars of cash were still in the purse. Make sure you go to the rooftop restaurant/bar for at the very least, the view. We went for a drink but stayed for dinner as well. Dinner was EXCELLENT. Service was EXCELLENT. Sunset view of the city and Andes was EXCELLENT. Checkout was easy and the front desk arranged a cab with a set fare to the airport.

The hotel is not for business travelers. I went for two weeks. The closet was to small for business clothes for 2 weeks. The hotel only has one restaurant that is also a public restaurant, then, a Friday night gets bussy and the restaurant ask you as a guest to make a reservation. Also, one day the restaurant was hosting an event so it was closed for guests but nobody told me in advance so I got the hotel at night and I went for dinner but It was no possible. It was not Plan B for guests who wanted to eat something. All the time I was in my room someone from the hotel service entered to my room without knocking the door or waiting for an answer from me. One day, I asked for and omelette at breaksfast time but It was no possible because there were not person to cook it even breakfast began at 7am and it was 7:40

A Home-From-Home That Gets The Basics Right

Reviewed By A6774SIsteveb

Having spent five nights here, as a base from which to explore Chile's central valley, I returned to this very friendly and welcoming family run hotel following a period in northern Chile. Originally recommend by a Chilean friend this hotel is quiet, safe, comfortable and it gets the fundamentals right, such as the hotel and rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable. there is ample storage space, while the hot water really is very hot. When I have eaten here the food has been excellent too. The travel advice generously offered for my trip to northern Chile proved equally sound. Returning for a second visit after a short period away felt like I was coming home. I have no concerns about returning again.

Stylish, clean, and quiet hotel

We stayed at Ddoor Hotel for three nights in November 2019. Our room was a good size, the decor was trendy, and the rooms were quiet (despite being located in the middle of everything). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate and they allowed us to use the cafe downstairs after hours to hang out. I would definately stay at this hotel again in the future.
