Utrecht has a large variety of restaurants, but the little family-run El Primo stands out for its consistently great food - prepared by Mario himself and served by his charming wife Joanna. It is almost like having a meal at home - just a few tables in an intimate surrounding.The menu is custom-built by Mario and consists of a surprising mix of Italian and Greek styles, is quite unique. Yet the prices are reasonable and you are not far from the centrum.Whenever we want a special evening, El Primo is our first choice.

This place is a jem! They are renowned for their seafood, but everything is sooo good! The wine pairing is awesome and the service impeccable. My wife had a Caprese like salad for starter and I had the octopus prepared in 4 different ways. They were awesome. We had a lovely wine with it, but the shared paella for our main was really well done. The rice was perfect and it was stuffed with mussels and other shellfish. We had a great wine with it. We left the place very fulfilled.

Food was very good and delivered quickly too. Perfect for a lunch, service was great, toilets and restaurant are very clean. Menu is very good from a quality and variety perspective.I would definitely eat there again.

Wat een leuk rustpunt is dit. Gestart van af Castellum op weg naar Culemborg is dit een uitstekende plek voor een goeie bak koffie met eenheerlijk stuk huisgemaakt gebak. Ik kan de appel kruimel en de cheese cake van harte aanbevelen. Helaas waren de meeste kersen al van de boom.Allerhartelijkste ontvangst, lieve dames.Absolute aanrader.

I went to this restaurant because of the really good reviews here in tripadvisorThe food gets 3 1/2 stars. The meat was cooked well but all in all it didn't blow my mind. The antipasta plate is OK, but it lacked freshness and ideasThe atmosphere gets 3 stars. Tables are placed wherever is space in restaurant. In the front, at the bar and in the back. Like a lot of restaurants here the place is basically run and managed by students.The wine gets 2 stars. To pay 27euros for a nero s'avolo with a screwtop, which comes in retail for 6 or 7 euros is not worthy a decent italian restaurant. Also most other wines served comes in a screwtop. I have no issue when white wine comes like this, but for red, no please. Also the wine tasted like 6 Euros, without body, aroma and taste. You are better off ordering beer.

We went out for a family dinner to this restaurant. While the welcome was very friendly and warm and the staff and the manager very friendly we were disappointed in the delays in serving our food. The presentation of the food was super but it took way too long for our food to be served and when it finally did get served it was almost cold. That spoilt everything! My husband expressed his disappointments directly to the manager so we hope that the next time we go there, if we do, the serving of the food is well improved!

Iâm not a culinary specialist but it would not surprise me this place gets a Michelin star recommendation soon. The only thing missing is tablecloth and bigger napkins ;-)What should I say more?The staff is very friendly, young and explain correctly whatâs have been served. The food is a bit âtechnicalâ and therefore with several taste surprises. Dishes are creatively and made into perfection. Warming: the building from outside tellâs a different story from whatâs inside. Donât judge too fast.
