Originally and still is a butcher shop, selling locally sourced free range meats, we look for traditional breds which produce great flavour and then age the meat to increase tenderness. Now has a bistro/ steak bar added, with a meat led menu, many prize w
Whilst no longer new, this is a great addition to their repertoire. For such a small kitchen area, the food they put out is excellent, obviously clearly helped by great produce.Hello 34patrickBThank you for the 5 star rating and the great review.Glad you enjoyed it, there is a lot of love in that great produce.Simon, Katarina and Team Uptons

I visited Miss Ellieâs Café for the first time recently & was impressed by the friendly atmosphere and warm welcome. The menu had enough choices to give many appealing options but not so many that it could not all be freshly cooked.I had sausages, mash & vegetables. When it arrived the presentation was impressive, the quantity rather generous, to say the least and the food excellent. The sausages were succulent, meaty and tasty - unlike some where the cereal content makes it questionable whether they should be served with mustard or marmalade.I was still in the area the next day so dined there again. I was recognised & warmly welcomed back. Some of my fellow diners had been there the previous day, & later arrivals were greeted by name so were obviously regulars - and regulars are always a good sign.I had slow roast lamb shank with mint sauce, gravy, duchesse potatoes & vegetables. The presentation, quantity and quality were as before. The gravy & mint sauce mix was so tasty that I asked for a spoon to scoop up as much as I could. A spoon was provided along with a totally unexpected but welcome offer of some bread & butter to mop up the mix.The jam roly-poly with custard for pudding was to the same excellent standard. The price charged for the quality, presentation & quantity represents the most impressive value I have encountered for years.I have paid a great deal more for smaller helpings of inferior food elsewhere and if in the area again will certainly return to Miss Ellieâs.Wow thank you for a fanatastic review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your meals with us, we have an ever changing menu so hope to see you again when you are next in the area.

Warm and friendly local cafe in Hythe village centre. Large front windows mean there is plenty of light and customers can sit and watch the world go by. Outside tables allow for some alfresco dining when the weather permits. The menu includes a range of b
bit sparse inside, service not too good and the food ok, there were a lot of children when I went so if you have kids good not much atmosphere but good for a quick snackSorry to hear you were not pleased with the service. I believe I was training a new staff member that day which may have contributed. I wouldn't mind some feedback about what could improve the atmosphere?

Got 2 baguettes to takeaway yesterday and was very disappointed. The baguettes were not soft,as though they were not fresh today. At almost £10 for 2 baguettes I would have saved about £4 and had a much nicer sandwich had I gone to Tesco across the road.Cafe had been recommended to me so very disappointing and whilst possibly a one off I personally wouldnât rush back for a baguette. On the plus side the staff were friendly.Thank you for taken your time to let us know about your recent experience. I am disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your baguettes, and i'd really appreciate the opportunity to show you that this is not our standard of food. Please feel free to pop In and enjoy two Fresh Baguettes at a discounted price. Thank you Jodie.

One of the best eggs benedict I've had in here, and the breakfasts choice is brilliant. Looking at my friends breakfast it looked lovely. The pricing is excellent value for money too.Staffed by volunteers from the church, the menu and coffees are varied and cooked to order. It takes time when busy, but is well worth the wait. Highly recommended

We visited this busy cafe on May Day monday. We had the half a roast chicken and chips, the chicken was lovely and moist, not dried out like some places and there were loads of chips with the meal. Also had the all day breakfast at £5 which came with two sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, beans and toast, this also tasted goof, only criticism was that they could have used better quality sausages. We followed this with some homemade Dorset apple cake and custard - delicious. Will definitely return if we are in the area.
